Suffolk Early Childhood Development Commission Meetings

Introductions/Welcome– Tamie Rittenhouse called the meeting to order and the commission gave brief introductions. II. Review Minutes- Commission reviewed minutes from April 2023 meeting. Tamie Rittenhouse moved to strike the term “feedback loop” from the April minutes and replace it with more appropriate wording. Gin second. Passed to approve was unanimous. III. Coordinators Report: A. Bylaws: The bylaws have been sent to the city attorney and received feedback. Shawna shared the following updates: 1. Changed the word chairman to chair throughout. 2. Updated re-election policy to reflect one successive term. 3. Recommended addition of a secretary. Secretary should be responsible for keeping track of terms, renewals, minutes, and a list of members. 4. Change to quorums would call for at least five members to be present to hold a meeting. 5. Emergency meetings should allow for at least 48 hours advanced notice. 6. Dr. Elle made a motion to change the frequency of meetings to every other month, with the interim months to be voted on as needed. Marie second. Opposed by Carol. IV. Other Business: Updates were withheld due to training workshop on diversity, inclusion, and equity by Paula Basemore. V. Adjourn: Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 7th 2023.
