I. Public Comment
Chairperson John Pardee welcomed the new members to the committee.
Robbie Robbins introduced himself and offered his assistance for any work done by the
committee. Discussion surrounding the Oakbrook area ensued, but agreement that the
connectivity between the various multi-use paths needs to be a priority. Bonnie reminded us to
seek out the help of Eric Davis at Dorchester Parks & Recreation. Both Sandy and Robbie
agreed that the county definitely needs to be involved. John spoke about the need to get the
shopping center revitalized as part of the overall improvements for safely accessing the
Oakbrook area.
Sandy spoke of the new advocacy group started in Summerville - Bike/Walk Summerville,
whose goal is advocacy, education and safety. The committee agreed that our two groups can
help each other out in many ways.
Discussion continued regarding the BGM extension construction issues and its drastic impact on
the SMB Trail. Various alternatives to the detour route proposed by the Town were discussed. It
was agreed that everyone needs to attend the Public Meeting on January 23rd to give our input
on the project. John Mott outlined other problem areas with the BGM project included the lack
of connectivity planned for access to Greenwave Blvd., and safety concerns at Coralie Drive and
Luden Drive.
