CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Griffith called the meeting to order in Council Chambers.

PUBLIC COMMENTS (ON SPECIAL MEETING ITEMS ONLY)
Joe Antuzzi spoke in support of Item 9 regarding the $30,000 request for the
Sunnyvale Downtown Association.
WORKSHOP
14-0291 Review of the Recommended FY 2014/15 Budget and
Twenty-Year Financial Plan
Interim City Manager Robert Walker, Director of Finance Grace Leung and
Assistant Director of Finance Tim Kirby provided the budget overview and a
PowerPoint presentation detailing City revenues and resources, expenditures, the
budget stabilization fund, enterprise funds, capital projects and infrastructure funds,
special revenue funds, internal services funds and budget supplements.
Council recessed at 10:49 a.m.
Council reconvened at 11:05 am with all Councilmembers present.

Council recessed for lunch at 11:57 a.m.
Council reconvened at 12:48 p.m. with all Councilmembers present.
Assistant Director of Finance Kirby continued the report of special revenue funds
and proposed budget supplements.
MOTION: Vice Mayor Davis moved and Councilmember Whittum seconded to
request information for a one-time supplement for use of the gymnasium at the
Community Center to house the homeless for four months this winter between the
hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The motion carried by the following vote:

Councilmember Martin-Milius
MOTION: Councilmember Whittum moved and Vice Mayor Davis seconded the
motion to include an Item #10 in the Budget Supplements: Care Management in the
amount of $40,000.
AMENDMENT: Councilmember Whittum amended the motion and Vice Mayor
Davis accepted the amendment to indicate the Care Management supplement
should come from the General Fund. The motion carried by the following vote:

MOTION: Councilmember Whittum moved and Councilmember Martin-Milius
seconded the motion to request staff to come back with information on the sidewalk
repair backlog, to provide additional options: Option 1: to look at how much it would
cost over twenty-years to keep the backlog from increasing; Option 2: look at what
it would cost to eliminate that backlog over ten years.

SUMMARY AND CONCLUDING REMARKS
Director of Finance Grace Leung provided a brief summary and reported that the
public hearing on the budget, the fee schedule and utility rates is scheduled for
June 10, and the adoption of the budget is scheduled for June 24.
Mayor Griffith provided information on a request from the City Manager to look at
the policy on how the Council travel budget is allocated and reported he would put
it on a future agenda for discussion.
MOTION: Mayor Griffith moved to decrease the Council travel budgets from $9,000
to $7,000.
Motion died due to lack of a second.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Griffith adjourned the meeting at 3:09 p.m.
