Ascent Consultants Kevin Colin and Kim Untermoser gave a slide presentation. Vice Chair Pyne opened the public hearing at 6:27 p.m. Mike Serrone, representing Livable Sunnyvale, asked that the public be presented with viable solutions to housing to help guide meaningful input, instead of being presented with open-ended questions. Chuck Furley, on behalf of Livable Sunnyvale, noted that market rate housing goals are being met, but that there needs to be a greater effort in reaching Sunnyvale's affordable housing goals. Angela Rausch, on behalf of Livable Sunnyvale, spoke in favor of affirmatively furthering fair housing by planning more housing in high-resource areas rather than low-resource areas, and building developments for all income levels. Raisa Singh, spoke in support of meeting climate and sustainability goals through the Housing Element. Richard Mehlinger, on behalf of Livable Sunnyvale and his co-chair Agnes Veith who was unable to join due to technical issues. Mr. Mehlinger shared Livalbe Sunnyvale's Housing Element Subcommittee's mission statement; How can we use the Housing Element process to promote a diverse and inclusive community and build a more equitable and sustainable city. He advocated for an open and transparent process, prioritizing fair housing, and environmental sustainability. Emma Pan, shared her ideas for increasing the housing supply in Sunnyvale by improving public transportation options to reduce the need for parking. Justin Wang, advocated for fair and inclusive zoning policies that make housing accessible to everyone and removes the stigma around multi-family home structures, and for nature-based solutions for climate resilience in future developments. Janette Brambila, member of Livable Sunnyvale, advocated for more housing in City of Sunnyvale Page 2 Housing and Human Services Meeting Minutes - Final December 13, 2021 Commission high-resource areas, open and transparent process, and for information and materials to be disseminated and available in multiple languages. Gail Rubino, member of Livable Sunnyvale, advocated for simple, easy to understand information for the community and addressing more viable options for the unhoused population. Cyrus Vacari, noted the impact that capital gains has on the decision by older residents to sell their homes. Colleen Housler, South Sunnyvale resident, advocated for more flexible zoning to build more housing and for safe overnight parking programs. Phone ending in 217 advised of possible technical issues on Channel 15. Vice Chair Pyne closed the public hearing at 6:55 p.m. Community Development Director Trudi Ryan gave closing comments on the topic.
