SPECIAL PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING (Study Session) Call to Order Chair Iglesias called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Roll Call Present: 5 - Chair Nathan Iglesias Commissioner Chris Figone Commissioner Martin Pyne Commissioner Michael Serrone Commissioner Neela Shukla Absent: 2 - Vice Chair Galen Kim Davis Commissioner Ilan Sigura Vice Chair Davis arrived at 6:03 PM. Commissioner Sigura’s absence is excused. Study Session A. 25-0200 Proposed Project: Related applications on a 5.24-acre site: SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT PERMIT: to consider the redevelopment of a commercial site to an 80-unit, three-story townhouses and 162-unit, seven-story apartment development; and, TENTATIVE TRACT MAP: to subdivide the existing lot into 19 lots, and create 80 condominiums. PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS None. STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES None. INFORMATION ONLY REPORTS/ITEMS None. 2. 25-0252 Planning Commission Proposed Study Issues, Calendar Year: 2026 (Information Only) NON-AGENDA ITEMS AND COMMENTS -Commissioner Comments Vice Chair Davis stated that he reviewed the City’s annual performance report against its Housing Element. He commended City staff on their performance and efforts. -Staff Comments Principal Planner Julia Klein informed the Planning Commissioners of upcoming meetings/workshops: 1. City Council Meeting - On January 28, 2025, the City Council will consider the rezoning of certain sites within the Industrial to Residential (ITR)/SF-Duplex zoning City of Sunnyvale Page 3 Planning Commission Meeting Minutes January 27, 2025 district. 2. City Council Retreat - On January 30, at 8:30 a.m., the City Council will discuss meeting and governance norms in advance of the Study Issues/Budget Proposals and Council Strategic Priorities workshops. 3. Charter Review Committee Meeting - On February 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the Charter Review Committee will hold their first meeting to consider amendments to the City Charter for the November 2026 Election. 4. Council Study Issues/Budget Proposals Workshop - On February 13, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., the City Council will hold a workshop to assign priority ranking of proposed study issues and “refer or drop” proposed budget proposals. 5. Council Strategic Priorities Workshop - On March 13, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., the City Council will receive updates on the existing Council Priorities, discuss various strategic topics for the City, and have an opportunity to update the Council Policy Priorities.
