Approval of Minutes – 6/24/22, 7/26/22, 8/2/22 MOTION by Graskey to approve all three sets of minutes. 2nd by Korhonen. Minutes approved. 3. 2022 Current Event Sponsorship Budget Balance COS Scherf explained that no longer a need to set aside money for Ice Festival. There are pending payments but approximately $30k left for 2022 budget. There is also $35,622 for the 2023 budget if the budget is approved by City Council. 4. Old Business Tabled for next meeting due to time constraints 5. SPONSORSHIP APPLICATIONS 5.1 St Louis River Alliance Canoe Trip - $25 – 8/24/22 MOTION by Urban, Second by Korhonen to approve at full requested amount. Passed viva voce. 5.2 East End Family Fun Days - $800 – 9/17/22 Graskey excused herself from the vote due to conflict. MOTION by Blunt, Second by Urban to approve at $625 to cover city fees. Motion passed unanimously. 5.3 North End Nightmare 5k - $1200 – 10/22/22 MOTION by Graskey, Second by Blunt to approve at full amount of $1200. Motion passed unanimously. 5.4 Superior Spooktacular Parade - $655 – 10/29/22 MOTION by Urban, Second by Blunt to approve at full amount. Motion passed unanimously. 5.5 Fairlawn’s Haunted Halloween - $300 – 10/29/22 MOTION by Graskey, Second by Urban to approve at full amount. Motion passed unanimously. 5.6 CASDA Domestic Violence Awareness - $500 – 10/1/22 Scherf excused herself due to conflict. MOTION by Urban, second by Korhonen to approve at full amount. NOTE: This permit, along with insurance information and fees, must be returned to Parks and Recreation a minimum of 60 days before your event. No fees will be waived. Sponsorship by the City may be requested. Insurance may be submitted no later than 2 weeks from event date if application is completed in its entirety. Most of our communications are via social media reducing the number of hard, paper copies for things such as marketing, event invetations, a virtual nonprofit handbook, and email communications. Selected artworks will be showcased at the Insides Out Exhibition coming this November. Artworks will also be available for viewing online. About The Beautiful Strength Project The Beautiful Strength Project is a peer support group that uses a holistic approach to health and wellness education for survivors of sexual and domestic voilence. Peer support in addition to other self-help options such as therapy and treatment has shown to increase quality of life, self-efficacy, sense of community, and supportive behaviors while the occurrence of relapse and homelessness decreased. The group currently meets twice weekly both virtually for online discussion and in person for fitness classes. This unique approach to health and wellness education allows participants to create lasting bonds with other members as well as the peer leader, and helps them find their way to a happier, healthier life for themselves and their families.
