January 18, 2023 Special Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Chair Tim Meyer at 5:35 pm on January 18, 2023 in Government
Center Room 270.

VIRTUAL: Tom Wondolkowski, Matt Osterlund

2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES
2.1 Regular Meeting Minutes October 12, 2022
MOTION to approve minutes made by Member Brian Finstad, seconded by Member
Kathleen Laakso, carried unanimously.
2.2 Regular Meeting Minutes November 9, 2022
MOTION to approve minutes made by Member Brian Finstad, seconded by Member
Kathleen Laakso, carried unanimously.
2.3 Special Meeting Minutes, November 28, 2022
MOTION to approve minutes made by Member Brian Finstad, seconded by Member
Kathleen Laakso, carried unanimously.
3 OLD BUSINESS
3.1 Certified Local Government Status
Common Council approved the application process. Staff and HPC members will prepare the
application by the February HPC meeting to be voted on. The application will then move to the
Planning Commission and the Common Council. After the February meeting, the HPC expects to
begin code review of items related to historic preservation in Superior Municipal Code.
3.2 Carnegie Library Update
The membrane is in the process of being complete on the Carnegie Library roof.
3.3 Princess Theatre Update
An RFP is in preparation for the Princess Theater, to do a feasibility study. After that
study shows what activities may be supported, an RFP will be prepared for an operations
partner. Once that party has been chosen, physical work of restoration may begin.
