HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE Minutes February 8, 2023 Regular Meeting The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Kathleen Laakso at 5:37 p.m. on February 8, 2023 in Government Center Room 270. 1 ROLL CALL PRESENT: Kathleen Laakso, Brian Finstad VIRTUAL: Tom Wondolkowski, Matt Osterlund, Tim Meyer ABSENT: None CITY STAFF PRESENT: Jeff Skrenes OTHERS PRESENT: Garner Moffat (in-person), Maria Lockwood, Shelly Nelson (virtual) 2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.1 Special Meeting minutes, January 18, 2023 MOTION to approve minutes made by Member Brian Finstad, seconded by Member Tom Wondolkowski, carried unanimously. 3 OLD BUSINESS 3.1 Certified Local Government Status Housing Coordinator Skrenes presented a draft of the CLG application, prepared with input from members and attendees. Once approved, the application would be presented to the Planning Commission, then Common Council. With a statement by the mayor to be added upon final approval, it would then be submitted to the state of Wisconsin. MOTION to approve the Certified Local Government Status application as prepared, made by Member Brian Finstad, Seconded by Member Matt Osterlund, carried unanimously. 4 NEW BUSINESS 4.1 Members discussed the planning and time frame for recommending changes to code regarding historic preservation. It was agreed that the process would start at the regular March meeting. The committee would send its list of recommended changes to the Planning Commission all at once and not in several stages. 5 RECURRING BUSINESS 6 ADJOURNMENT MOTION to adjourn at 5:53 p.m. made by Member Tom Wondolkowski, seconded by Member Kathleen Laakso, carried.
