HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE Minutes August 15, 2023 1:00 p.m. Special Meeting The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Brian Finstad at 1:03 p.m. on August 16, 2023 in Government Center Room 270. 1 ROLL CALL PRESENT: Brian Finstad VIRTUAL: Matt Osterlund, Tom Wondolkowski ABSENT: Tim Meyer, Kathleen Laakso CITY STAFF and OFFICIALS PRESENT: Jeff Skrenes OTHERS PRESENT: Shelly Nelson, Robert-Jan Quene 2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.1 MOTION to approve the June 14, 2023 meeting minutes, made by Member Tom Wondolkowski, seconded by Member Matt Osterlund, carried unanimously. 2.2 July 12, 2023 meeting did not occur, due to lack of quorum. 3 OLD BUSINESS 3.1 Princess Theater Roof Recommendations 3.1.1 MOTION to support chimney removal at theater fly loft, and brick covering with rigid materials to be determined by an architect, at the fly loft and wall dividing theater and photography studio sites, made by Member Brian Finstad, seconded by Member Matt Osterlund, carried unanimously. 3.1.2 MOTION to support keeping both apartment units intact, with egress immediately outside rear 2nd floor doors, to the south of the unit, made by member Matt Osterlund, seconded by Member Tom Wondolkowski, carried unanimously. 3.1.3 MOTION that the HPC support consultant work to properly document, and when necessary, oversee the removal of historic interior features, with sensitivity to plaster work and positioning, in conjunction with roof repair at the Princess Theater. 4 NEW BUSINESS 4.1 Schedule next special meeting of the HPC - Special meeting date not set, staff will attempt to find a date that works for at least four HPC members. If a date cannot be arranged for that number of members, Certified Local Government status and relevant code changes will be brought up at the regular September meeting. 5 RECURRING BUSINESS 6 ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 1:54 p.m. Respectfully submitted by Jeff Skrenes.
