Roll Call Present: Deanna Reder, Jenny Van Sickle (Virtual) Louren Yzaguirre (Virtual), Tanzeem Ali (Virtual) Also Present: Rebecca Scherf (Staff), Jim Paine (Virtual), Kathryn Guimond, Jade Wong 2. Approval of December Minutes Motion by Jenny Van Sickle seconded by Tanzeem Ali, carried to approve 3. Kathryn Guimond – Director – Center for Continuing Education, UWS Presentation from Kathryn Guimond re: Center for Continuing Education. New Program: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion in the workplace. Leadership development program. 9 full days of training over 9 months. Different themes each month developed with assistance from local and national experts in diversity and inclusion. Toward One Wisconsin conference (keynote speakers and breakout sessions) this past November. Partnership with UW System. Conference on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Very successful and lots of good feedback. They are looking ahead to do it again in 2024 or 2025 and possibly include the commission. How can Center for Continuing Education better help work with the commission? Discussion with commission. Help with becoming more active and visible in the community. 4. Discussion Schedule for Speakers ChaQuana McEntyre is speaking next month re: Familys Rise Together – creating more accessible and safe spaces for BIPOC community. Jumpstart on talking about Juneteenth so we can play a larger role in the festival. 5. Website Update CoS Scherf gave update on website. Dan Shea is working on it. Need to confirm changes to one pager and get to IT and updates will be live. 6. MLK Day Revisit in September to become involved in MLK day and talk about making sure there are transportation options to Duluth for citizens of Superior to broaden access. Jenny & Louren to collab in gathering flyers of local events. CoS Scherf will get posted to the website. 7. Budget 2023 Update from Budget from CoS Scherf. About $200 rollover from 2022. $700 budget for 2023. CoS Scherf - no silk. No feet. Grippy tablecloth 6’. For February’s meeting, bring ideas on how commissioners want to spend the money for 2023. CoS Scherf to look into how to begin the transfer process. 8. Any Other Business Tanzeem reaching out to UWS cultural center to work together on events in the future. 9. Meeting Adjourned at 6:12PM

Roll Call Present: Deanna Reder, Ephraim Nikoi, Tatiana Bergum, Jenny Van Sickle (Virtual) Louren Yzaguirre (Virtual), Tanzeem Ali (Virtual) 2. Approval of November Minutes Motion by Ephraim Nikoi seconded by Tanzeem, carried to approve 3. Tatiana Bergum – Human Trafficking Task Force Twin Ports January Trafficking Awareness Month (Event on Jan. 9th at noon at AICHO in Duluth). Brief presentation about Human Trafficking Proclamation. Needs a few sentences to a paragraph from our Commission for the Human Trafficking proclamation by Friday morning December 16th 2023. Both Mayors of Duluth and Superior will be at the Proclamation Ceremony on January 9th, 2023. Discussion followed. Motion by Jenny Van Sickle moved by Tanzeem Ali, seconded by Louren Yzaguirre Drafting of the Human Trafficking Proclamation statement input from our Mayor's Commission on Communities of Color. 4.
