SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Coufal called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:37pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025 II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Coufal, Ashley Rambo, Joanna Rambo, Starr Fitch, J’Cee Coufal, Kayla Peterson, Stacy McMullin, Tabatha Crober and Shelli Alfrey were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = $24,923.37 IV. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion made by J’Cee and seconded by Starr to approve the previous minutes from regular meeting October 2, 2025. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: JR HIGH HALLOWEEN DANCE: • Wrap up report o Income = $461 o Expenses = $613.30 o Loss of $152.30 overall o Other school events were happening the same night, and the dance was poorly advertised. These factors will be considered for any future dances. FALL SWEEP: • Wrap up report o Volunteers: 49 adults and 34 children o Planted over 30 trees behind the library and at MLK park o Flower beds in front of library were cleared out by CPChem volunteers o Sanci will get a quote for the flower beds and send to Jessica at P66. 1 POSSIBLE ART MURAL PROJECT FOR DOWNTOWN SWEENY: • Original idea to paint a mural on the side of Sweeny Graphics. We found out the building needs some repairs, and anything painted could be damaged/removed whenever those repairs are done in the future. • Southern Speech has an artist and sketch from said artist and is wanting to split the cost 50/50. Total cost is estimated $5400 - $7200; half of this would be $2700 - $3600. o A few members expressed concern about the even split and high cost. More information is needed on the matter. o No action taken. SWEENY WELCOME SIGN: • Discussion of where the sign would go in town. We would like it to be near Backyard Park while the city wants it at Industrial Park. • No action Taken. MAIN STREET CLEANUP: • Saturday, November 15, 2025; Gazebo Park 8-10:30am • Litter Cleanup • Peace-Love-Retro Treats will be at this event providing complimentary treats to volunteers. THANKSGIVING BAKE SALE: • Thursday, November 20, 2025; Bulldog Café 9:30am - 2pm • Whole desserts work well for this event along with some single items CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK 2025: • Saturday, December 6, 2025; Gazebo Park o Theme: “Santa’s Workshop” • Updates and needs: o Gazebo Lights – Shelli was able to get a quote for $600 to have gazebo lights hung; same amount Mark Morgan’s Company quoted us. o Motion made by Stacy and seconded by Kayla to approve spending $600 for Mark Morgan’s Company to hang the gazebo lights this year.  All in favor. Motion carried. o Manger Scene – The manger was damaged last year; the frame will need to be replaced. We’re waiting for public works to get it out of their storage for us to assess any other damage. o SCS Art Contest – Recycled Christmas Ornament contest; Need sponsors. o Vendors – 14 paid; 20 spots maximum o Decorating – Begins Saturday, November 8th o Parade – 9 entrants o Walk of Trees – 7 donated trees o Joe Pantalone/Street of Lights – 1 entrant for Joe Pantalone/0 for Street of Lights o Entertainment – Lineup has been set o Children’s Entertainment – Petting Zoo, snowball pit, and bounce house o Publicity/Sponsors – Letters and emails have been sent to local businesses. 2  o SBC Booth – Need large thermal water cans for Hot Chocolate o Port-a-cans/Light Plants – Waiting on response from United and Dusty Hopkins is allowing us to use 4 of his light plants. Meeting adjourned at 6:46pm.
