SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Coufal called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:36pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026. II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Coufal, Joanna Rambo, Ashley Rambo, Starr Fitch-by phone, J’Cee Coufal-by phone, Kayla Peterson, Stacy McMullin, Ellen Farley, Tabatha Crober and Shelli Alfrey were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = N/A due to bank online logins being reset. IV. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion made by Stacy and seconded by Shelli to approve the previous minutes from regular meeting March 5, 2026. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: SWEENY PRIDE DAY PAGEANT: • Saturday, April 25 at Sweeny Elementary Cafeteria 5pm • $5 entry at the door • Need judges and sashes • Sign ups open until April 10th ; 5 queen, 2 princess, 4 little and 5 mini signed up so far. • MC will be former queen, Zoey Audas. GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP: • Wrap up report o 22 bags o 18 volunteers DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS® TRASH OFF: • Saturday, April 11 at Backyard Park 7:30am-10am 1 LIBRARY LANDSCAPING: • Last meeting a quote of $2,450 was accepted for Ochoa Landscaping to do the landscaping at Sweeny Library. • Phillips 66 has paid wells nursery $1878.80 for bushes/plants/shrubs to be planted at the library. o 16 Foxtails o 24 Purple Laura ped o 24 Texas sage • Ochoa Landscaping has offered to plant these at no additional cost. 8TH GRADE PROM: • Motion made by Stacy and seconded by Shelli to host the 8th grade prom on May 16th at the community center, selling single tickets for $20 and a set of two tickets for $30. o All in favor. Motion carried. • Sanci will check with the city for venue availability. • Stacy will make the flyer. • Shelli has decorations we can use for the event. SWEENY PRIDE DAY 2026: • May 1-2, 2026; Backyard Park o Theme: “Sweeny Through the Years” • Update and needs: o Parade – Kayla  Grand Marshal: Wayman Hutchings  1 entry o Publicity/Sponsors – Ashley  Bronze sponsor o Sweeny Hospital o Taco Loco o Tinted Tunez (Car show) o Sweeny Chamber (Pageant)  Silver sponsor o Hart’s Automotive (Pageant) o Trilogy  Gold sponsor o Sweeny Rotary Club o Phillips 66 o Vendors – Starr  17 non electric.  14 electric.  Plus 4, unsure of electricity needs.  Total 36 vendors signed up. o Cookoff – Sanci/Joanna  Forms have been posted online.  3 teams signed up. 2   Need cookers, some judges, and helpers.  Trophies have been ordered. o Entertainment – Ashley  Back Pavilion 11:00am – 11:30am Opening Ceremonies 11:30am – 12:45pm Men’s Cake Auction 12:45pm – 1:00pm SHS Bulldog Belles 1:00pm – 1:15pm SJH Friskies 1:15pm – 1:45pm Sweeny Elementary Choir 1:45pm – 2:15pm SHS Robotics 2:15pm – 2:30pm Performance by Aden Grovey 2:30pm – 3:30pm Beautiful Baby 3:30pm – 5:00pm Bingo o Cake Auction – Joanna  6 bakers.  Letters to bidders have been mailed out.  Need judges and auctioneer o 5K – Melanie  Melanie is working on forms and flyer. o Beautiful Baby – Kayla  5 entries.  Need trophies.  Has judges and crowns. o Children’s Entertainment – Kayla  We will have the same setup as last year. Booked; half paid in March, last half to be paid this month.  Phillips 66 will be sponsoring a petting zoo and have paid the vendor directly. o Cornhole/Washers – TBD  Flyers have been posted to Facebook. o Car Show – Starr  Need people’s choice boxes. o Beautification Booth – Kayla  Motion made by Ellen and seconded by Shelli to sell bbq pulled pork sandwiches on Friday night at $10 each with a bag of chips, bottle of water and fixins included. Setting a budget of $450 and planning to sell 200 plates. o All in favor. Motion carried. o Security – Ashley  Event security has been booked through Sweeny PD.  Friday 5pm – Sunday 6am; $1,665.00 o Light Plants  Confirmed; donated by Trilogy. o Dumpster  Ashley has confirmed with the city. o Port-a-cans  Joanna has accepted a quote from United for 4 standards, 2 ADA, and 4 handwash stations for $1311.59. o Recycled Art Contest – Ashley 3   No updates Meeting adjourned at 6:52pm.
