SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Coufal called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:3pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026. II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Coufal, Joanna Rambo, Starr Fitch, J’Cee Coufal, Kayla Peterson, Stacy McMullin-by phone, Ellen Farley, Tabatha Crober and Shelli Alfrey were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = N/A due to bank online logins being reset. IV. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion made by Starr and seconded by Shelli to approve the previous minutes from regular meeting February 5, 2026. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: JR. HIGH VALENTINES DANCE: • Wrap up report: o Income = $1896 o Expenses = $582.02 o Total Profit = $1313.98 MARCH & APRIL SPECIAL MEETINGS: • Motion made by Joanna and seconded by Kayla to hold our special meetings on March 19th and April 23rd, both at 5:30pm in the community center meeting room. o All in favor. Motion carried. SPRING CLEANUP EVENTS: • Great American Cleanup o March 21st o Backyard Park o 8am – 10:30am 1  • Don’t Mess with Texas® Trash Off o April 11th o Backyard Park o 7:30am – 10:00am LIBRARY LANDSCAPING: • Ochoa Landscaping has given us a quote for $2,450 to do the landscaping around Sweeny Library. The quote includes cleaning the flower beds around the library, removing the stumps of the old plants, adding river rock to flower beds that need it and washing out existing rocks. As well as adding mulch to each side of the library using heavy duty landscaping fabric on the flower beds and leveling the beds with the sidewalk. Ochoa Landscaping has offered to plant any plants or shrubs provided by P66 at no additional cost. • Motion made by Starr and seconded by Joanna to accept the quote from Ochoa Landscaping of $2,450. o All in favor. Motion carried. SWEENY PRIDE DAY 2026: • May 1-2, 2026; Backyard Park o Theme: “Sweeny Through the Years” • Update and needs: o Pageant- April 25th  Chair: Ellen  Theme: “A Night in Pearls”  2 minis signed up  Hart’s Automotive will be Sponsoring the $500 Queen and $300 Best Beau scholarships. o Parade – Kayla  Grand Marshal: Wayman Hutchings  1 entry o Publicity/Sponsors – Ashley  Sweeny Hospital – bronze sponsor $300 o Vendors – Starr  7 vendors o Cookoff – Sanci/Joanna  Forms have been posted online.  Need cookers, judges, and helpers.  Trophies have been ordered except DAL. o Entertainment – Ashley  Back Pavilion 11:00am – 11:30am Opening Ceremonies 11:30am – 12:45pm Men’s Cake Auction 12:45pm – 1:00pm SHS Bulldog Belles 1:00pm – 1:15pm SJH Friskies 1:15pm – 1:45pm Sweeny Elementary Choir 1:45pm – 2:15pm SHS Robotics 2:15pm – 2:30pm DJ 2:30pm – 3:30pm Beautiful Baby 3:30pm – 5:00pm Bingo 2  o Cake Auction – Joanna  5 bakers.  Letters to bidders have been mailed out. o 5K – Melanie  Melanie is absent. o Beautiful Baby – Kayla  5 entries.  Need judges and trophies. o Children’s Entertainment – Kayla  We will have the same setup as last year. Booked; invoice needs to be paid.  Phillips 66 will be sponsoring a petting zoo and have paid the vendor directly. o Cornhole/Washers – TBD  Flyers have been posted to Facebook. o Car Show – Starr  Need boxes and trophies. o Beautification Booth – TBD  Motion made by Ellen and seconded by Shelli to sell bbq pulled pork sandwiches on Friday night at $10 each with a bag of chips, bottle of water and fixins included. Setting a budget of $450 and planning to sell 200 plates. o All in favor. Motion carried. o Security – Ashley  Event security has been booked through Sweeny PD. o Light Plants  Confirmed; donated by Trilogy. o Dumpster  Ashley has emailed the city. Waste Connections usually donates it. o Port-a-cans  Joanna has accepted a quote from United for 4 standards, 2 ADA, and 4 handwash stations for $1311.59. o Recycled Art Contest – Ashley  Shelli, Stacy, Melanie and Starr will be blind-judging the contest. Meeting adjourned at 7:02pm.
