SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Coufal called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:34pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026. II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Coufal, Ashley Rambo, Joanna Rambo, Starr Fitch, J’Cee Coufal, Kayla Peterson, Stacy McMullin, Ellen Farley, and Shelli Alfrey were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = $23,445.89 IV. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion made by Starr and seconded by Stacy to approve the previous minutes from regular meeting January 8, 2026. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: MEETING EXTENSION: • Motion made by Joanna and seconded by Shelli to extend the meeting by 30 minutes until 7pm. o All in favor. Motion carried. GARDEN AT SWEENY ELEMENTARY: • First Baptist Church wants to split work and upkeep a portion of the atrium garden at the sweeny elementary school. o Sanci is waiting for more details on the matter JR. HIGH VALENTINES DANCE: • Friday, February 13, 2026; First Methodist Gym o Theme: Disco o 6 – 9PM setup begins at 5:30PM o Venue is booked; flyer has been approved by school and is posted on our Facebook. o Pizza will be donated by Wayman from Simple Simons, starting with 15 and 10 on standby. 1  o Kasey Kennedy will be donating his time and equipment to DJ. o Ellen will get plates, napkins, candy, and drinks. o Joanna will bring tickets. SPRING CLEANUP EVENTS: • Great American Cleanup o Motion made by Ashley and seconded to have the Great American Cleanup on March 21st at Backyard Park from 8am – 10:30am. o All in favor. Motion carried • Don’t Mess with Texas® Trash Off o April 11th o Backyard Park o 7:30am – 10:00am CONEX STORAGE: • Materials to repair the roof would be about $900, not including labor • Quotes for used/new containers o $2,005 – Boxhub – 40ft High Cube Used (Wind & Watertight) container delivered to Sweeny. o $2,400 – Containers X – 40ft Used (Wind & Watertight) container includes delivery & sales tax. o $4,400 – Containers X – 40ft New (Wind & Watertight) container includes delivery & sales tax. o $1,979 – Eveon – 40ft Used container includes delivery only. o $1700 - $2000 – Advanced Container – 40ft Used container only. • No action taken. KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL: • Governor’s Community Achievement Award o Application period is open February 2 – March 12, 2026 o Joanna is working on the application process • Annual Recognition Report o The report has been submitted, and $200 dues have been paid SWEENY PRIDE DAY 2026: • May 1-2, 2026; Backyard Park o Theme: “Sweeny Through the Years” • Update and needs: o Pageant- April 25th  Chair: Ellen  Theme: “A Night in Pearls”  2 minis signed up  Hart’s Automotive will be Sponsoring the $500 Queen and $300 Best Beau scholarships. o Parade – Kayla  Grand Marshal: Wayman Hutchings  No fee or winner stipulations will be added. o Publicity/Sponsors – Ashley  Sponsorship forms and letters will be mailed/delivered soon. 2   Facebook and the free newspaper will be used for publicity and marketing purposes o Vendors – Starr  7 vendors o Cookoff – Sanci/Joanna  Forms have been posted online o Entertainment – Ashley  DJ needed  Lineup has a few spots left to fill o Cake Auction – Joanna  Beginning at 11:30am  Flyers and forms are posted on Facebook.  Letters to bidders will be mailed out soon. o 5K – Melanie  Discussion about correlating to this year’s theme and making this an “in memorium” for walkers/runners. In honor of the Colton Schuerg 5K in the early 2000’s. o Beautiful Baby – Kayla  Begins at 2:30pm  Working on forms and flyers. o Children’s Entertainment – Kayla  We will have the same setup as last year.  Phillips 66 will be sponsoring a petting zoo again and the invoice has already been paid. o Cornhole/Washers – TBD  We need chairperson for these events; We will reach out on Facebook to outsource help for these events. o Car Show – Starr  Forms and flyers are posted on Facebook. o Beautification Booth – TBD  Discussion about selling bbq sandwich plates on Friday night.  Kayla will do some research on the matter and report back at the next meeting. o Security – Ashley  Ashley has contacted Sweeny PD for event security, and they have confirmed coverage for the event. o Light Plants  Confirmed; they will be donated by Trilogy. o Dumpster  Ashley has emailed the city. Waste Connections usually donates it. o Port-a-cans  Joanna has accepted a quote from United for 4 standards, 2 ADA, and 4 handwash stations for $1311.59.  Ashley has emailed the city to ask to use two of their cans. o Recycled Art Contest – Ashley  Shelli, Stacy, Melanie and Starr will be blind-judging the contest. Meeting adjourned at 7:02pm.
