SWEENY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 5:30 PM Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas MINUTES BE IT KNOWN that Sweeny Beautification Committee of the City of Sweeny met in Regular Session on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room; 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road, Sweeny, Texas with the following agenda. I. CALL TO ORDER: Sanci Coufal called to order the meeting of the Sweeny Beautification Committee at 5:38pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026. II. ROLL CALL: Sanci Coufal, Ashley Rambo-by phone, Joanna Rambo, Starr Fitch, J’Cee Coufal-by phone, Kayla Peterson, Erica Landriault, Stacy McMullin, Ellen Farley, Tabatha Crober and Shelli Alfrey were present. III. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current Balance = $26,473.41 IV. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion made by Starr and seconded by Shelli to approve the previous minutes from regular meeting December 4, 2025. All in favor. Motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS: CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK 2025: • Wrap up report o Vendors income = $610 o Bake sale/hot chocolate income = $535 o Total Income = $1145 o No expense report currently • Comments o Ellen voiced that Beautification’s booth needs to be front and center at the event. o Discussion about adding a stipulation to parade rules about not being able to win 1st place 2 years in a row and that you must be present at announcements to win. No action taken. JR. HIGH VALENTINES DANCE: • Friday, February 13, 2026; First Methodist Gym o Theme: Disco 1  o 6 – 9PM setup begins at 5:30PM o Venue is booked; flyer has been approved by school and is posted on our Facebook. o Pizza will be donated by Wayman. o Kasey Kennedy will be donating his time and equipment to DJ. o Ellen will get plates, napkins, candy, and drinks. o Ashley will contact the school to ensure the dance is marketed as well as possible. Sweeny Pride Day 2026: • May 1-2, 2026; Backyard Park o Theme: “Sweeny Through the Years” • Assign chairpersons for the following: o Pageant- April 25th; Location TBD  Chair: Ellen  Theme: “A Night in Pearls”  Queens will remain open for Juniors and Seniors; a new category will be opened for 9th and 10th graders to compete.  Gifts will not be provided to judges, unless we can find a sponsor for it  Need forms and flyers posted by Monday o Parade  Chair: Kayla  Motion made by Stacy and seconded by Ashley for Wayman Hutchings to be this year’s parade Grand Marshal. o All in favor. Motion carried.  Discussion about adding a parade entry fee of $5. No action taken.  Sweeny PD has been notified and has given their approval for the parade. o Publicity/Sponsors- Ashley  Chair: Ashley  Forms and letters are ready and will be printed and mailed/delivered soon. o Vendors  Chair: Starr  Forms and flyers are ready. o Cookoff  Chair: Sanci  Cookoff committee will be having a meeting to update forms, rules and turn in times. o Entertainment  Chair: Ashley  West Brazos Knights of Columbus have confirmed they will host bingo. o Cake Auction  Chair: Joanna  Flyers and forms are ready. Letters to bidders will be mailed out next week. o 5K  Chair: Melanie o Beautiful Baby  Chair: Kayla  Working on forms and flyers. 2  o Children’s Entertainment  Chair: Kayla  Space needs to be evaluated since park improvements.  Phillips 66 will be sponsoring a petting zoo again. o Cornhole/Washers  Chair: TBD  Need chairperson for these events. o Car Show  Chair: Starr  Forms and flyers are ready. o Beautification Booth  Chair: TBD  Need chairperson and details. o Security  Ashley has contacted Sweeny PD for event security, and they have confirmed coverage for the event. o Light Plants  Confirmed; they will be donated by Trilogy. o Dumpster  Ashley has emailed the city. Waste Connections usually donates it. o Port-a-cans  Joanna has accepted a quote from United for 4 standards, 2 ADA, and 4 handwash stations for $1311.59.  Ashley has emailed the city to ask to use two of their cans. CONEX STOARAGE: • Conex storage needs repairs. o Budget is $1000, Sanci will get a quote to bring to the next meeting. KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL: • Joanna will be working on the upcoming Governor's Community Achievement Award – Application period is open February 2 - March 12, 2026 and KTB Annual Recognition Report – Due Feb 27, 2026 Meeting adjourned at 7:08pm.
