Sweeny Economic Development Corporation Special Meeting Minutes July 28, 2025 I. Call to Order Jenny Massey called to order the special meeting of the Sweeny Economic Development Corporation at 5:00 pm on July 28, 2025, at Sweeny Community Center Meeting Room. II. Roll Call Michelle Medina conducted the roll call. The following were present: Brian Brooks, Bill Hayes, Brittanie Hopkins, Jenny Massey and Kay Roe. Absent: Neal Bess Jr. and Katie Goff Visitors: No visitors III. Old Business: a. Discuss and act as needed changing the performance agreement for Equipment Share to lot 6 and the acreage to 6.743 acres – M. Medina explained that after the site visit it was determined that lot 4 entry was too narrow. Equipment Share is requesting to change to lot 6. B. Brooks made a motion to approve the change from lot 4 of 7.678 acres to lot 6 of 6.743 acres. B. Hayes 2nd the motion. B. Hopkins abstained because she came into the meeting late. Motion carried. B. Brooks would like to ask the public works department to put metal “T” posts in place of the wooden survey stakes, so they won’t get damaged when mowing or clearing. VII. New Business: a. Meets and boundaries survey for Equipment Share – M. Medina explained that the board approved the survey of lot 4, now we need to approve lot 6. B. Brooks made a motion to approve the survey for lot 6. B. Hopkins 2nd. All in favor and motion carried. b. Budget workshop – M. Medina presented some numbers to the board to review. Using the lower average of sales tax received for the budget. She explained that we would no longer have rent and a few other items. This is first draft. M. Medina to make the few corrections an send it back to the board to review for the next meeting. VIII. Announcements of Community Interest Aug. 9th Sweeny Lions Back to School event at the Backyard Park begins at 3 pm, free haircuts, water slides, bouncy houses, Community Health Network and vision screenings. M. Medina and N. Bess Jr. to attend the Alliance Industry Update. VIIII. Adjournment B. Hayes made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:11 pm. B. Hopkins 2nd. All in favor and motion carried.
