OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION January 26, 2023 Present: Alex Ries Eric Valenstein Dominic Capparuccini Chris Sevick Nick Sheets Bryan Troast Liza Guroff, Council Liaison Staff: Jana Antrobus, Staff Liaison Absent: Billy Shifflet Call to Order Alex Ries, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of the Minutes Motion was made by Chair Ries and seconded by Commissioner Capparuccini to approve the November 17 Minutes as presented. All voted in favor. Business 1. 2023 Meeting Schedule Motion Chair Ries motioned and Co-Chair Valenstein seconded to approve the 2023 Meeting Scheduled. All voted in favor. 2. 2023 Event Scheduled Scavenager Hunt details were discussed and it was decided to continue to have this event the same weekend as the Easter Egg Hunt and the eggs will be hidden along the Linear Trail. Planning will continue during the next meeting. Skateboard Contest is a new event the Commission is considering. The owner of Shrimptown (Jason) has offered to co-sponsor and help with the event. June 24 is the proposed date. Jason will be invited to the February meeting to answer questions and finalize date. The following 2023 Event Schedule was completed and will be approved during the February Meeting. SPARC to put together request. Such as: • Signs (Concert signs and Movie banner) • Facebook Boost(s) • Bunny Costume • Skateboard Contest 2. Millard Cooper Park and South Branch Park Pavilion rental fee has been increased to $150. 3. Friendship Baptist Church have confirmed their Annual Spring Break in Sykesville Event for April 29 at Millard Cooper Park. Adjournment There being no other business, Chair Ries motioned and Commissioner Troast seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:01 PM. All voted in favor.
