OFFICIAL MINUTES SYKESVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION March 28, 2024 Present: Alex Ries Dan Gilbert Nick Sheets Billy Shifflet Elizabeth Groff, Council Staff: Jana Antrobus Absent: Chris Sevick Eric Valenstein Call to Order Alex Ries, Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of the Minutes Chair Ries motioned and Commissioner Shifflet seconded to approve the February 22, Meeting Minutes. All voted in favor. Business 1. September Movie – Changed to Super Mario Brothers 2. Easter Egg Hunt (March 29 10am to 12 pm)  Setup to begin at 8:30am.  Volunteers confirmed.  Display signs – “10 to 15 egg limit per child”. Staff to print 4 signs.  Staff will bring Snack Shack key, ribbon cutting scissors and flyers.  ScavenEGGer Hunt (March 29 to March 30) Location - Burkett Park eggs are out. 3. Spring Park Cleanup (April 20 from 9:00am to 12:00pm)  Locations discussed: o South Branch Park o Sandosky Road o Clean out the Weigh Station – Commissioner’s requested staff to check if there are any hazardous materials to be concerned about inside. 4. Sykesville Skate Jam  5 to 7 have registered.  Concessions: o Considering water bottle filling station instead of selling water bottles. Staff will look into options. o Sell prepacked snacks and Gatorade. Chair Ries motioned and Commissioner Shifflet seconded to approve a $200 budget to purchase concession supplies.
