Kavaloski, Town Clerk OFFICIAL SUMMARY OF July 25, 2024 REGULAR PARKS AND RECREATION MEETING (NO QUORUM) The Sykesville Parks and Recreation (SPARC) meeting was held on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Commissioner Ries called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Town House Conference Room. There was not a quorum for this meeting. PRESENT: Commissioners Alex Ries, Nick Sheets, and Billy Shifflet. Council Member Elizabeth Guroff. ABSENT: Commissioners Chris Sevick, Dan Gilbert, and Eric Valenstein. STAFF: Kerry Kavaloski, Town Clerk MINUTES: • May 23, 2024 meeting minutes • June 27, 2024 meeting summary (no quorum) As there was not a quorum at this meeting, the minutes and meeting summary were tabled until the August 22 meeting. BUSINESS: • August Movie Commissioner Sheets will handle putting out the signs before the movie. A new DVD player will be purchased prior to the movie, and Commissioner Shifflet will burn the ad video onto a DVD before the movie. Commissioner Sevick will be in attendance at the movie and has volunteers for the snack shack. • Fall Cleanup Commissioner Ries explained that staff has recommended Millard Cooper Park for the fall clean up due to the splash pad popularity. She suggested that future fall cleanup days be scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day in Millard Cooper Park. The time will be 10 AM to 12 PM, and flowers will be planted in addition to cleaning up throughout the park. • Music in the Park Update  Commissioner Sheets gave a quick update on the Music in the Park events. The contracts have been sent out to the bands. There was a brief discussion of future event possibilities, such as a book walk and partnering with the local library. TOWN UPDATES: • The Program Open Space application was submitted for repairs to the street lights on Cooper Drive and refreshing the pavilions in Millard Cooper Park. • The Town is waiting for the delivery of the Linear Trail Park structures. As soon as they are delivered, the Town will work on installing them. • A new concrete pad and bench were installed near the splash pad in Millard Cooper Park. ADJOURN: There being no further business to come before SPARC, Commissioner Ries motioned, and Commissioner Shifflet seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 P.M. The motion carried unanimously.
