MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING May 18, 2022 – 8:00 A.M. Members Present: Chairman Jan Naso Commissioner Christine Higham Non-Members Fire Chief Mike Passarelli Present: Assistant Fire Chief Ben Stasik Director of Public Service Mike Rorar Human Resources Administrator Jill Stritch ______________________________________________________________________________ The May 18, 2022 Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order. Mr. Kot is out of town and is excused. Minutes of the May 4, 2022 meeting were approved as published. Chairman Naso wanted to do an update on the Police Department Part-Time Records Clerk issue, the Part-Time General Laborers classification change and the Police Department Administrative Assistant update. Mrs. Stritch stated that they are all in the Ordinance (referring to Ord. 50-2022) and the Public Hearing is scheduled for next Thursday May 26 in Council. Mr. Naso stated that we have the issue with the position of Full-Time Technician I and the Assistant Road Superintendent. Both of those positions have been advertised last Sunday and people can apply up until June 15. We haven’t received any so far. Mrs. Higham stated that she has an interview on Thursday for Full-Time Technician I. Mr. Naso told Mr. Rorar that Allison needs that application. Mrs. Higham stated that she asked for the interview questions ahead of time. Mr. Naso stated that because of the unforeseen issue with Ramsey & Associates for the Fire Lieutenant’s Exam and Assessment Center, Allison and I met with Chief Passarelli, Deputy Chief Stasik, Mayor Kline and Mark Burgess, the coordinator for testing and consulting for the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association to discuss their testing process. The written exam will be conducted by Tom Talcott and the assessment center will be administered by Mark Burgess. They have conducted 21 exams to date and have an additional 20 more scheduled so far this year. Mr. Burgess was able to answer any questions we had and the clerk and myself were comfortable with the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association administering the upcoming Lieutenant’s Exam and Assessment Center on the originally scheduled dates. Page 2 May 18, 2022 Chairman Naso made a motion that the Civil Service Commission affirms the decision to use the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association to administer the written exam on May 24, 2022 and the Assessment Center on June 2, 2022 for the position of Fire Department Lieutenant.
