MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING June 8, 2022 – 8:00 A.M. Members Present: Chairman Jan Naso Commissioner Tom Kot Non-Members Mayor Dave Kline Present: Fire Chief Mike Passarelli Human Resources Administrator Jill Stritch ______________________________________________________________________________ The June 8, 2022 Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order. Mr. Naso stated, unfortunately for us, Mrs. Higham has been elected to Summit County Council and must resign her position here at the Civil Service Commission which will be a big loss for us. Mayor Kline said, for the record, she talked to me today and she will tend to her resignation letter to me sometime today, effective last night. Minutes of the May 4, 2022 meeting were approved as published. Part-Time Records Clerk legislation and the Part-Time General Laborers position classification change and the Police Department Administrative Assistant are all covered under Ordinance 50- 2022. The Mayor stated that the public hearing on those passed and was adopted by City Council. Mrs. Stritch stated Chief Williams is posting now for the Administrative Assistant position and she is working with him on getting it advertised. Applications are being accepted for Assistant Road Superintendent. Mr. Naso stated Mrs. Higham had always sat in on the interviews, so now either me or Mr. Kot will be doing that. Mayor Kline said that his goal is to have someone (a new Commissioner) in place for your next meeting. Mr. Naso said the Fire Department’s Lieutenant Exam and Assessment Center took place; all candidates passed. I make a motion to certify the Fire Department’s Lieutenant’s Eligibility List. Motion was seconded and passed with no discussion. Mr. Naso handed Chief Passarelli the result letters to each candidate and the eligibility list to him and Mayor Kline. He explained that the profiles for each candidate will be another three weeks before we get those. Chief Passarelli stated there will be a committee like what they did with the Battalion Chief’s interviews. The Mayor’s nephew is in this group, so the Mayor has excused himself and has turned it over to Dr. Cooper. Chief Passarelli stated the committee will be comprised of himself, Dr. Cooper & Assistant Fire Chief Ben Stasik.
