Respectfully, Mayor Shaunna O'Connell The City of Taunton Police Department SAFETY OFFICE 23 Summer Street CHIEF SAFETY OFFICER Taunton, Massachusetts 02780 EDWARD J. WALSH ARSENIO CHAVES Telephone: (508)821-1471, Ext. 3014 Facsimile: (508) 828-9315 www.achaves@tauntonpd.com Honorable Shaunna O'Connell, Mayor and Municipal Council City Hall 15 Summer St Taunton MA, 02780 02/14/2022 Council President Duarte requested that the Safety Officer and the City Engineer asses any safety improvements that can be made at the sharp curve that connects Wales Street and Mason Street. That intersection is a sharp 90 degree turn in a residential area. I was informed by the City Engineer that there have been no changes to that intersection recently. I have evaluated the roadway, and spoke with Mike Patneaude in regards to this roadway. The only safety upgrades that we can suggest is placing "CURVE AHEAD" signs on both Mason Street and Wales Street, and chevrons at the comer of Wales Street and Mason Street to warn motorists of the bad turn.
