RESOLUTION NO. 23__ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TERRELL, TEXAS, UPDATING THE TERMS OF SERVICE FOR THE FACILITIES NAMING COMMITTEE AND REQUIRING THE APPOINTMENT OF A HISTORIAN WHEREAS, the Terrell City Council adopted Resolution No. 2106 in October, 2023, modifying the City Facilities Naming Committee by increasing the number of members from five (5) to nine (9), establishing a residency requirement, defining the committee officers to include a Chairperson and a Vice-Chairperson, defining the committee member term of service as one (1) year, defining a quorum, and placing a temporary hold on new and honorary names until such time as the City Facilities; WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to update the term of service and ensure historical representation on the committee; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TERRELL, TEXAS: SECTION 1: Appointments to the Facilities Naming Committee shall be for a term of three (3) years. SECTION 2: The Facilities Naming Committee shall include at least one (1) member with historical expertise. SECTION 3: If there is no voting member of the committee deemed to have historical expertise, the committee will request a non-voting ex-officio be appointed with such expertise. An ex-officio, deemed necessary, will be appointed by the Mayor. SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
