MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOMBALL CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS MONDAY, MARCH 7, 2011 4:30 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order The Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Gretchen Fagan. Other members present were: Councilman Quinn Councilman Stoll Councilman Brown Councilman Townsend Councilman Dodson The Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was called to order by Chair Lori Wallace. Other members present were: Vice Chair – Tom Crofoot Commissioner – Field Hudgens Commissioner – Barbara Tague Members absent: Commissioner – John Mottershaw Others present: City Manager – George Shackelford Assistant City Manager – Christal Kliewer City Secretary – Doris Speer City Attorney – Scott Bounds Assistant to the City Manager – Shawn Cox City Planner – Kelly Violette Assistant City Engineer – Lori Lakatos Assistant City Planner - Rodney Schmidt Building Official – David Allen  Minutes Special Joint City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting March 7, 2011 Page 2 of 3 Fire Marshal – Doug Sanguedolce Fire Inspector – Tommy Nicholson Administrative Assistant-E&P – Brandy Pate 2.0 No public comments were received. 3.0 Workshop Session: 3.1 The Tomball City Council and the Tomball Planning and Zoning Commission members entered into a Workshop session for the following purpose(s): A. Discussion of Possible Changes to the Zoning Ordinance Kelly Violette presented proposed changes to the Land Use charts. Consolidation of land use classifications are recommended to reduce the current 381 land use classifications to 293 land use classifications. Mayor Fagan announced a short recess at 5:35 p.m.; upon returning at 5:40 p.m., the workshop continued. City staff will prepare an ordinance incorporating the proposed changes to the zoning ordinance and necessary associated changes to the platting ordinance and property maintenance codes and will provide a summary of the changes for Council’s review before consideration of the ordinance. The ordinance will be provided in a redlined version following review by the City Attorney. B. Kelly Violette presented Project Expectations, Goals, and Existing Conditions regarding the Downtown Specific Plan and provided information regarding proposed meetings and timeline to complete the Downtown Specific Plan. No action necessary. 4.0 Motion was made by Councilman Townsend, second by Councilman Stoll, to adjourn the City Council meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Motion was made by Commissioner Hudgens, second by Commissioner Crofoot, to adjourn the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
