Tourism Advisory Committee Meeting

MINUTES OF REGULAR TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS MONDAY, MAY 11, 2015 5:00 P.M. 1.0 The meeting was called to order by Chair Holly Cook. Other Committee members present were: Paige Cassel Mary Harvey Kevin Lala Laura Wilson Members absent: Jeffie Cappadonna Steve Hughes Rodney Hutson Prakash Patel Others present: Mayor – Gretchen Fagan City Manager – George Shackelford City Secretary – Doris Speer Marketing Director – Mike Baxter Shirley Skidmore, Artist Members of the Ken Walden Family 2.0 No Public Comments were received. 3.0 New Business: 3.1 Mayor Fagan introduced Ken Walden’s family to the board members. Mayor Fagan presented information regarding a proposed statue honoring Ken Walden and introduced the proposed artist, Shirley Skidmore, and displayed the maquette of the proposed project.  Minutes Regular Tourism Advisory Committee May 11, 2015 Page 2 of 2 Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Kevin Lala, to recommend to Council the approval of the creation of a Depot Station Agent Sculpture representing Tomball’s Railroad Heritage and honoring Ken Walden, to include the installation of the sculpture and a bronze plaque, at a cost not to exceed $35,000, with donations being accepted to offset costs. Motion carried unanimously. 5.0 Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Laura Wilson, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned. PASSED AND APPROVED this 27 day of October 2015.
