MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2017 6:00 P.M. 1.0 The meeting was called to order by Chair Holly Cook. Other Committee members present were: Paige Cassel Mary Harvey Steve Hughes Jeffie Cappadonna Cindy Vincik Rodney Hutson Kevin Lala Prakash Patel Others present: City Manager- George Shackelford Marketing Director – Mike Baxter City Secretary- Doris Speer Assistant City Secretary – Tracylynn Garcia 2.0 No Public Comments were received. 3.0 Reports and Announcements • Update by Mike Baxter, Marketing Director, regarding Upcoming Events and Ongoing Activities, including July 4th Celebration & Street Festival • Recap by Mike Baxter, Marketing Director, regarding Trade Show and Marketing Efforts Planned for 2017 • Recap by Mike Baxter on: ◦ Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival ◦ Honky Tonk Chili Challenge • Update by Mike Baxter, Marketing Director on the T&W Model Railway scheduled to open in the fall 4.0 Motion was made by Jeffie Cappadonna, second by Kevin Lala to approve the minutes of the October 25, 2016 Special Tourism Advisory Committee Meeting.  Minutes Special Tourism Advisory Committee August 22, 2017 Page 2 of 2 Motion carried unanimously. 5.0 New Business: 5.1 Motion was made by Steve Hughes, second by Paige Cassel, to Approve Spring Creek County Historical Association Request for $30,000 in funding for the SCCHA fiscal budget for 2017-2018 Annual Operations. Vote was as follows: Paige Cassel- Aye Mary Harvey- Nay Steve Hughes- Aye Jeffie Cappadonna- Nay Cindy Vincik- Aye Rodney Hutson- Aye Kevin Lala- Nay Prakash Patel- Nay Holly Cook- Aye Motion carried 5 votes Aye, 4 Nay. 5.2 Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Paige Cassel, to Approve Tomball Sister City Organization Request for Support, Funding, and Road Closures, in the amount of $57,750 for the 2017 Tomball German Christmas Market, to be held December 7 through December 10, 2017, and in the amount of $57,750 for the 2018 Tomball German Heritage Festival, to be held March 22 through March 25, 2018. Motion carried unanimously. 5.3 George Shackelford discussed the role of Tourism Advisory Committee under Ordinance 2010-21. No action necessary. 6.0 Motion was made by Jeffie Cappadonna, second by Paige Cassel, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned. PASSED AND APPROVED this day of , 2017.
