Approved by the Board of Public Safety MINUTES June 7, 2023 Vol. 7, Page 585 BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY Vote: Unanimous SPECIAL MEETING CITY HALL AUDITORIUM / ZOOM May 15, 2023 A SPECIAL MEETING of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 15, 2023. Attendance was in-person and by Zoom. Present at City Hall were Mayor Elinor Carbone, Police Chief William Baldwin, Deputy Police Chief Bart Barown, Public Works Director Ray Drew, and Board of Safety Commissioners Glenn McLeod, Gregg Cogswell, Darlene Battle, Doug Benedetto, Joe McElroy, and Molly Spino. Joining via Zoom was Deputy Fire Chief David Tripp. Mayor Carbone called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance. POLICE CAPTAINS On a motion by Commissioner Benedetto, seconded by Commissioner McLeod, the Board voted unanimously to accept Chief Baldwin’s recommendation to promote Brett Johnson to the position of Captain in the Torrington Police Department. On a motion by Commissioner Benedetto, seconded by Commissioner McElroy, the Board voted unanimously to accept Chief Baldwin’s recommendation to promote Stephen Krzanowski to the position of Captain in the Torrington Police Department. SWEARING IN CEREMONY FOR THE POLICE CAPTAINS Mayor Elinor Carbone, Justice of the Peace administered the Oath of Office to Brett Johnson, Torrington Police Captain.
