COUNCIL CONFERENCE Trenton, New Jersey, February 13, 2007 Council President Paul M. Pintella, announced that adequate public notice has been provided to the public specifying the time and place for this meeting in accordance with Chapter 231, P.L. 1975, approved on October 21, 1975 and effective January 19, 1976. The FY 2007 annual notice was mailed to the Times and the Trentonian Newspapers, posted on the first floor bulletin board in City Hall, and filed in the City Clerk’s Office on July 1, 2006 and amended on July 21, 2006 The agenda for the said meeting was mailed, posted and filed on February 9, 2007. A Conference of the City Council of the City of Trenton, New Jersey, was held on the above date at 5:20 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Council President Paul M. Pintella, on roll call, the following answered present: Messrs. Bethea & Coston, Ms. Lartigue, Mr. Melone, Ms. Staton, Mr. Pintella – 6. The following were absent: Mr. Segura -1 A portion of this meeting will be set aside for public comment. 5:00 p.m. Subject: Docket Review Appearance: Renee Haynes, Chief of Staff Jane Feigenbaum, Business Administrator RESOLUTION DENYING RENEWAL OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE NO. 1111-33-017-005, MARK VII, INC., T/A CLUB XL, 1701 CALHOUN STREET, TRENTON, NEW JERSEY Council President Pintella – Welcome Ivan Maziers, Eagle Scout to Council meeting and asked him to introduce himself and give a brief explanation as to what he needed council to do for him. Ivan Maziers, explained that in order to receive his merit badge in communication he needed to get signatures from Council members to prove that he had been to a Council meeting. He stated that he was 16 years old, from Eagle Scout Troop 38, Mercerville, and that he goes to Notre Dame High School. Council member welcome him and his mother to Council meeting and asked if they would stay for the meeting so they could see the procedure and how things are done here in the City of Trenton. EXECUTIVE SESSION Motion was made by Councilman Coston, second by Councilwoman Staton to go into executive session. Appearance: Steve Trombolli, Esq. RESOLUTION TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION BE IT RESOLVED, that pursuant to N.J.S.A. 10:4-12 et seq. the public is hereby excluded from the following discussions; Concerning the tactic and techniques utilized in protecting the safety and property of the public which if disclosed could impair such protection. Concerning pending or anticipated litigation or contract negotiations. Brain Ruhl v. COT Falling within the Attorney Client Privilege BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the contents of these discussions will be disclosed to the public when the need for confidentiality no longer exists. For Straw purposes Motion was made by Council member Bethea, second by Staton to accept the settlement agreement made by the Labor Counsel to the City of Trenton. The motion was carried by the following vote of the Council members present: AYES: Council members Bethea, Coston, Lartigue, Melone, and Staton NAYES: Pintella ABSENT: Segura Public session open at 5:55 pm. Docket review Council member Coston left the meeting at 6:10 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENT: Jackie Blakey, 15 Fell Street – Thanked, Mr. Allen from Public Works for salting the parking lot at the Reading Center. She stated that the Reading Center partner with Gregory School and that they would be giving gift out to the kids for Valentine Day. Dion Clark, 323 Walnut Avenue – Read an article from the Trenton Times regarding the slum landlord issue. He stated that the City should have a Rental Property Committee. Landlord should not rent to immigrant because since they need a place to live these slum landlords abuse them. Council member Staton left the meeting at 6:25 p.m. James Fouse, 13 Cavell Avenue – Stated that he was not a Trentonian that he is from Georgia. He moved to Trenton and has a house here he adopted Trenton his children were born here went to school and college here. CIVIC MATTERS: Council President Pintella – Motion to table the two new Ordinance presented until February 15, 2007, second by Council member Bethea.
