I. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:03 p.m. by Pam Malloy at
the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Albert Lemus, Jackie Zupp, Pam Malloy, Priscilla Musgrove, and Kathy
Perryman
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Brian Beck
GUESTS: None.
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The flag salute was conducted.
III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – None.
IV. COMMUNICATIONS - None.
V. CONSENT CALENDAR
(1) The minutes of October 18, 2017 were M/S/P by Jackie Zupp and Pam Malloy and unanimously
approved.
VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None.
VII. GENERAL BUSINESS
a. NUTRITION REPORT: Brian Beck passed out the October 2017 report.
b. RECREATION REPORT: Brian Beck passed out the October 2017 report.
Classes & Activities – Upcoming special event luncheons are: Giving Thanks Luncheon
on Friday, November 17th, sponsored by Walnut Park; and the Christmas Luncheon on
Friday, December 22nd sponsored by Tulare Cabrillo Club. The first session of the Tai
Chi class has been a success, with 17 participants enrolled.
c. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES REPORT: Jackie reported that TSS will be purchasing and
distributing promotional ink pens printed with the TSS logo.
VIII. OLD BUSINESS – None
IX. NEW BUSINESS – Brian reported that the Senior Center staff has increased facebook
posts to twice weekly; in hopes of offsetting the lack of coverage in the local newspaper.
Each post reached approximately 200 seniors and supporters. Staff will continue to
request newspaper coverage online via “Eventful.” Brain Beck also reported that $200,000
has become available to the Senior Center from Community Development Block Grant
Funding (CDBG). Funds were requested to provide upgrades and improvements to the
Senior Center facility. Due to the busy holiday season the December COA Meeting will be
canceled.

This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the jurisdiction of the Board. The
Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced
today. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 10 minutes per
item, unless otherwise extended by the Board.
IV. COMMUNICATIONS
Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a meeting to be considered for this
section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under communications;
however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during communications for a
future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to three minutes, per topic, unless otherwise
extended by the Board.
V. CONSENT CALENDAR:
All Consent Calendar Items are considered routine and will be enacted in one motion. There
will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the
item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a
separate motion.
