MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON Wednesday, October 16, 2019 Tulare Senior Community Center, 201 North “F” Street Bill Thompson Room MISSION STATEMENT To Promote a community making Tulare the most desirable place to Live, Learn, Play, Work, Worship and Prosper I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:15 p.m. by pam Malloy at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Kathy Perryman, Jackie Zupp, and Pam Malloy MEMBERS ABSENT: Priscilla Musgrove and Albert Lemus STAFF PRESENT: Brian Beck and Lorraine Zorn GUESTS: None. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – None. IV. COMMUNICATIONS – Brian Beck announced that Craig Miller is the new Park & Recreation Director. Lorraine announced that Cindy Detwiler is the new staff helper at the senior center. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of August 21, 2019 were M/S/P by Pam Malloy and Kathy Perryman and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS a. NUTRITION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn passed out the August & September 2019 reports. b. RECREATION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn passed out the August & September 2019 reports. (1) Trips – Lorraine stated the Chukchansi Trips are set for the 2020 year. TSS will be willing to sponsor the previous day trips provided to Pismo and/or Yosemite. (2) Special Events - Lorraine stated that staff is working on the upcoming Halloween bash and Veterans Ceremony. She also said that the 2020 special event lunch packets and  sponsorship have also gone out to potential vendors. Family HealthCare Network has already responded and will sponsor 4 luncheons. (3) Upcoming events: Upcoming is the Halloween Bash, October 31st and the Veterans Ceremony, November 5th, sponsored by Tulare Cabrillo Club & Family HealthCare Network; Thanksgiving Luncheon, November 15th, sponsored by Quail park’ and the annual Christmas Party luncheon, December 20th, sponsored by Family HealthCare Network and Tulare Cabrillo Club. (4) Classes & Activities – Senior Softball ended its 2019 season and will be starting again in March 2020.. VIII. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES REPORT: Jackie Zupp said there are new board members and returning – Karen Snow and Dianne Yamamoto and returning is Jay Ivie. TSS was fortunate enough to receive a donation from AMVETS a very-well working bingo board. The board had been ready to make a huge purchase for a new bingo board. IX. OLD BUSINESS – None. X. NEW BUSINESS – (1). Brian stated that the meeting at council, November 5th will still be presented by Pam Malloy. (2) New Vehicle for Home Delivery program – Brian said the cargo van will be hopefully be here by February 2020. This cargo van will not only replace an old vehicle currently used but provide more room for frozen meal delivery. (3) It was recommended that we proceed with a board member replacement of Priscilla Musgrove’s board position due to long term absences on the bi-monthly board meetings. MSP by Jackie Zupp and Pam Mallow and unanimously approved. XI. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST– None XII.
