MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON WEDNESDAY, August 19, 2015 TULARE SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 NORTH “F” STREET BILL THOMPSON ROOM MISSION STATEMENT TO PROMOTE A COMMUNITY MAKING TULARE THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, WORSHIP AND PROSPER I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:01 p.m. by Albert Lemus at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Albert Lemus, Dick Johnson, Norris Truman, Jackie Zupp MEMBERS ABSENT: Deanne Martin-Soares STAFF PRESENT: Hollie Tisthammer II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute was conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – None. IV. COMMUNICATIONS - None. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of July 15, 2015, were M/S/P by Dick Johnson and Norris Truman and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS NUTRITION REPORT: Hollie Tisthammer presented the July Report. Dick Johnson requested that KT/AAA funds received be included in Nutrition Report. RECREATION REPORT: Hollie Tisthammer presented the July Report. Trips – Awesome Tours has been contacted about the problems with the lift and overall dissatisfaction with the driver for the last trip to Morro Bay/Pismo. Special Events – Staff is preparing for the Western Day Luncheon and has recently begun a “Sunshine Club” to acknowledge birthdays and send out cards to homebound seniors. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES, INC. (TSS) – Hollie reported that the Dance Committee has begun to actively market the upcoming dances in hopes of increasing attendance. VIII. OLD BUSINESS- None. IX. NEW BUSINESS Lorraine Zorn will return August 31, 2015. X. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST Kerri Bell, Registered Dietician, led a workshop regarding diet and its effect on cholesterol and blood pressure. It was well attended and informative. XI. CALL TO ORDER II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. CITIZEN COMMENTS This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the jurisdiction of the Board. The Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced today. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 10 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by the Board. IV. COMMUNICATIONS Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under communications; however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during communications for a future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to three minutes, per topic, unless otherwise extended by the Board. V. CONSENT CALENDAR: All Consent Calendar Items are considered routine and will be enacted in one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a separate motion.
