MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON WEDNESDAY, December 16, 2015 TULARE SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 NORTH “F” STREET BILL THOMPSON ROOM MISSION STATEMENT TO PROMOTE A COMMUNITY MAKING TULARE THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, WORSHIP AND PROSPER I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:00 p.m. by Albert Lemus at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Johnson, Albert Lemus, Pam Mallloy, Kathy Perryman, Norris Truman, and Jackie Zupp. MEMBERS ABSENT: None. STAFF PRESENT: Brian Beck and Lorraine Zorn II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute was conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – None. IV. COMMUNICATIONS - Lorraine introduced two new board members, Kathy Perryman and Pam Malloy, and also regretfully announced Norris Truman’s resignation, December 2015, after 3 years of dedicated service to our Board. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of November 18, 2015, were M/S/P by Albert Lemus and Norris Truman and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS NUTRITION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn presented the November 2015 Report. Brian Beck noted that an RFP will be going out in December for contract services for the caterer. Jackie Zupp suggested that sandwiches not be on the menu more than 1-2 per week. RECREATION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn presented the October Report. Trips – Table Mountain Casino, November 19 was cancelled due to lack of participation. We still continue to offer trips by Collette Vacations. Special Events – Lorraine said the Holiday Boutique went very well. Some good sales and Santa was there taking pictures with children. It may be the last boutique because the turnout was less than last year. The annual Christmas Luncheon was delightful and the meal/dessert was delicious. Classes & Activities – Lorraine reported on the November 2015 recreation report. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES, INC. (TSS) – The annual Christmas Bingo was held last Wednesday and was very-well attended. This Friday will be the annual Christmas Party. It will not be a catered dinner, the dance committee decided it will be a potluck, some raffle gifts and the same fee of $8 per person. VIII. OLD BUSINESS – None. IX. NEW BUSINESS Lorraine introduced the one returning and two new board members, Jackie Zupp and Pam Malloy and Kathy Perryman. X. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST XI. CALL TO ORDER II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. CITIZEN COMMENTS This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the jurisdiction of the Board. The Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced today. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 10 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by the Board. IV. COMMUNICATIONS Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under communications; however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during communications for a future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to three minutes, per topic, unless otherwise extended by the Board. V. CONSENT CALENDAR: All Consent Calendar Items are considered routine and will be enacted in one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a separate motion.
