MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON WEDNESDAY, January 20, 2016 TULARE SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 NORTH “F” STREET BILL THOMPSON ROOM MISSION STATEMENT TO PROMOTE A COMMUNITY MAKING TULARE THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, WORSHIP AND PROSPER I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:05 p.m. by Dick Johnson at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Johnson, Kathy Perryman, and Jackie Zupp. MEMBERS ABSENT: Albert Lemus, Pam Malloy STAFF PRESENT: Brian Beck and Lorraine Zorn II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute was conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – None. IV. COMMUNICATIONS - None. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of December 16, 2015, were M/S/P by Jackie Zupp and Kathy Perryman and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS NUTRITION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn presented the December 2015 Report. RECREATION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn presented the December 2015 Report. Trips – At this time there are no scheduled trips to Chukchansi Casino because the casino does not have staff in the group tour department. As soon as group tours are available we will schedule trips. We still continue to offer trips by Collette Vacations – Colors of New England and Reflection of Italy Special Events – Upcoming are the Super bowl Luncheon sponsored by Linwood Meadows, February 5th, and the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, February 12th. Classes & Activities – Lorraine reported on the December 2015 recreation report. The Senior Softball league will begin in March. VIII. OLD BUSINESS – None. IX. NEW BUSINESS The 12 special event luncheons for the 2016 year have all be sponsored. The sponsors are Tulare Regional Medical Center, Altura Centers for Health, Twin Oaks Village, and Linwood Meadows X. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST XI. CALL TO ORDER II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. CITIZEN COMMENTS This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the jurisdiction of the Board. The Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced today. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 10 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by the Board. IV. COMMUNICATIONS Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under communications; however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during communications for a future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to three minutes, per topic, unless otherwise extended by the Board. V. CONSENT CALENDAR: All Consent Calendar Items are considered routine and will be enacted in one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a separate motion. Nutrition Report This report covers congregate and home delivered (hot and frozen) meal participation for the months of December 2015 (2). RECREATION-COMMUNITY SERVICES a. Recreation Report This report covers recreational activities and participation for the months of November 2015. (1). Trips (2).
