Community Services updates
Rob Hunt 10
Rob reported that things were status quo lately; not much new.
The City is projecting a $3million decrease in revenue. Cuts may occur, but probably Heidi Clark
10
not for Library or Parks & Rec. Our spending and services have been, and will
remain, flat with no changes.
Library Staff 10
The terms (4 yrs.)of three of the Board members are up soon; Lisa, Ellen and
Michelle. They wish to be reinstated so will attend the first City Council meeting in
December (12/05/17)to be available when this comes up for discussion. Board Members
Snapshot of Stats & Library Updates,
Heidi reported that October was rather quiet. The Halloween Spooktacular stood
out with over 150 in attendance.
We have been working on the State Report and plan to revise our spreadsheet of
stats to more closely align with the information requested. With revision in mind,
Heidi asked the Board what information they would like to see. Rob mentioned that
it would be nice to have a dashboard that is more visual with icons; something that
he could share at City Council meetings. Include stats that would answer, “How do
you measure success”.
Rob shared good news about the website. Our current website is difficult to manage
and getting dated. It is now possible to be a department on the City website and
keep all our colors, logos, information and URL basically for FREE. We had thought
it would be around $20,000. Now we will just pay for the domain name. We hope to
go live after the MC Solutions contract expires, possibly this summer.
Programs & Outreach (Food 4 Fines; )
F4F council approved. Can= $1, coat=$5, max $10.00.
The Library will be attending the TKHCC awards dinner, nominated to receive the
Community Involvement award.
International Games Day is Tues. Nov. 21@2:00.
Molly will do mock interviews at the Chambers “Be Future Ready” at COS Tulare.
Suggestions from the Board
Michelle followed up on a previous Paint Nite idea. We continue to pursue this idea.
The staff will approach the Friends group at their meeting today to fund this
activity. We intend to do this as a regular Library activity alternating monthly with
the adult craft on the third Thursdays. Michelle suggested tying this in with the
Enjoy Magazine DIY craft.
