2-25 Infrastructure Committee

City of Tybee Island Infrastructure Committee Feb. 25, 2021 In Attendance: Shawn Gillen, Pete Gulbronson, George Shaw, Monty Parks, Barry Brown (via Zoom), Stan Bearden Approve Minutes- PG, GS Minutes approved. Shawn Gillen and Pete Gulbronson spoke with Barry Brown about the work going on at the Old Marine Science Center. Shawn Gillen and Peter Gulbronson went over the Water Sewer CIP with Barry Brown. Spoke about using LMIG to pay for paving of streets that are torn up to do work on the waterlines. Barry asked about the age of our water/sewer system. We have some sewer lines that are over 120 years old. We want to be in a manageable cycle of replacement. Some of the old lines go under houses. Old lines tend to be on the North End. Pete Gulbronson spoke about our needs in terms of garbage trucks. We need a little bigger truck. We are actually considering Enterprise Lease program to get some trucks for DPW. Barry Brown and Peter Gulbronsn spoke about different plants and trees we could plant to beautify the entrance to DPW. Shawn Gillen spoke about where our spending levels need to be in order to use the building assessment as a guide for improvements. Peter Gulbronson reviewed some of the CIP with Barry Brown who could not be present at the last Infrastructure meeting. (2-11-21) Peter Gulbronson will send the committee the updated CIP. 9 Lighthouse Lane – Behind Salt Pines – is having drainage issues. Peter Gulbronson spoke with the resident. Shawn Gillen spoke about the issue. We need to make sure the City actually installed it. If we did, then we own aspects of the problem, but the legal questions must be addressed first. It may be a private road. Barry Brown and Pete Gulbronson will go together to meet with the resident. Barry Brown – asked about the backflows. Pete Gulbronson explained what we are working on. We have been putting five in per year, roughly. Pavillion – Peter Gulbronson – The bids are due March 9th. We will award it at the second Council meeting in March.
