Tybee Island HISTORICAL PRESERVATION COMMISSION Meeting Minutes Date & Time: October 10, 2022 6:00PM Present: Holly Grell-Lawe, Cassidi Kendrick, Mary Anne Butler, Sarah Jones, Mike Goldberg Absent: Michael Sergi, Marty Harrell, Spec Hosti Observers: Dawn Shay, Forever Tybee, Pat Leiby Location: Burke Day Public Safety Building, Conference Room, 78 Van Home Ave. Call to Order The meeting started at 6PM, a quorum was present. Approval of Minutes 1. Motion to Approve Meeting Minutes 8/8/22- Approved 2. Motion to Approve Meeting Minutes 9/12/2022-Approved On-2oin2 Business 1. Action Items from 9/12/22 HPC Meeting- all items were completed. 2. City Hall Renovation Update- No update. The City Council will be voting on a budget for the project soon. Greenline is an architect/preservationist group that is overseeing the project. Estimated cost is $1.7 Million for the renovation. RW Allen is the contractor they are considering. 3. Draft Elevation Guidelines-Working on the wording. Holly wants to rearrange the document. Will be back on next month's agenda. 4. North Campbell Conservation District- Need to get letters to property owners out. Jackie will make a one pager infographic with educational information about the Neighborhood Conservation District. 5. Fort Screven Signage- Sarah is working on the sign maker for this, the lumber is hard to source right now. 6. HPC Community Communication- HPC wants to expand on this to include more than social media. There were several initiatives considered for the communications, such as videos of the historic markers, website, article in beachcomber magazine, and case studies of projects happening. 7. Historic Trolley Tour- Spots are filling up. There is a Paypal account now to collect payment online. Jackie is working on the map. Could consider making this a self guided tour in the future. New Business 1. Annual Planning Meeting- Meeting will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023 at the Guard House. This will be about half a day, and include strategic planning for HPC upcoming year of work. Announcements Permit Review- None Lazaretto Coalition Meeting- Meeting postponed Tybee MLK- Next meeting on 10/24/22 at 6:30PM. Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day will be held on 11/5 at Hotel Tybee. Statewide HPC Conference Recap- Sessions that were attended were very helpful. Many focused on telling the stories of preservation/cultural heritage. Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 7:24PM.
