Main Street Monthly Board Meeting

Main Street/ Development Authority Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Date & Time: April 19, 2023 | 4:04PM Present: Sarah Bernzott, Charissa Murray, Sue Jackson, Susan Kelleher, Cassidi Kendrick, Bill Garbett, Cate Campbell, Michael Flores, Kelly Swope Absent: Sarah Bernzott, Jay Burke, Maria Lancaster, Beth Martin Observers: Forever Tybee- Ruth Location: Tybee Island Public Safety Building Call to Order- The meeting was called to order at 4:03 PM. Approval of Minutes- The minutes from the March 15, 2023 meeting were approved with a motion by Susan K. and a second from Cate C. Old Business New Business Financial Update- Cassidi provided an update to the board about where the City was in the budgeting process for FY 23-24. Committee Updates ● Economic Vitality ○ The Economic vitality committee is continuing to work on improving and re- writing the special event application. The committee is also working on creating a survey to address areas of concern from the business community. Lastly, the committee is planning to engage with the Savannah Chamber of Commerce to partner on training opportunities for Tybee businesses. ● Design ○ The majority of the street furniture for the south end business district streetscape project has been ordered to include; bike racks, benches, trash cans and recycle bins. The light pole agreement has been signed and documented with GA Power. The sidewalks have been pressure washed. The committee has plans to meet with public safety officials about continuous efforts to improve the experience on the South End. The committee also has plans to meet with Public Works to discuss electrical upgrades on Tybrisa Street. ● Promotion ○ The promotion committee has been working with businesses on hosting this  year’s Main Street Meet Up events, most have been scheduled. The committee reviewed a community gift card program by Giverang. Another update will be shared when the follow up questions have been answered by the sales representative. The slots on the billboard are quickly filling up, and several new businesses are participating. The committee will soon begin planning this year’s holiday events and holiday market. ● Historic Preservation Commission ○ HPC is actively selling tickets for the upcoming trolley tours on May 12 & May 19 as part of National Preservation Month activities. The ribbon cutting for the virtual Black History Trail will be May 16th at 10:30AM at the Tybee Island Historical Museum. Announcements/ Upcoming Events The board would like to give a shout out to the Tybee Island Police Dept., Fire Dept, and Dept. of Public Works and all of their hard work. Their recent efforts have been noticed and appreciated by the community. Adjournment- The meeting was adjourned at 5:15PM with a motion from Kelly Swope and a second from Susan Kelleher.
