Tyrone Town Council Meeting Minutes April 1, 2021 7:00 P.M. Present: Mayor, Eric Dial was absent Mayor Pro Tem, Gloria Furr Council Member, Linda Howard Council Member, Melissa Hill Council Member, Billy Campbell Town Manager, Brandon Perkins Town Clerk, Dee Baker Finance Manager, Sandy Beach Court Clerk, April Spradlin Mayor Pro Tem Furr called the meeting to order with limited seating and broadcasted on YouTube Live at 7:00 pm, this was followed by the invocation. The public was invited to watch. Approval of Agenda Council Member Howard made a motion to approve the agenda. Council Member Campbell seconded the motion. Motion was approved 4-0. Consent Agenda: All matters listed under this item are considered to be routine by the Town Council and will be enacted by one motion. There will not be separate discussion of these items. If discussion is desired, that item will be removed from the consent agenda and will be considered separately. Approval of Retreat minutes, March 18, 2021 Approval of Donations to the Tyrone Museum Council Member Campbell made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Council Member Hill seconded the motion. Motion was approved 4-0. Council Meeting – Social Distancing/YouTube Live April 1, 2021 Page 1 of 3 Presentations/Recognition Proclamation 1. Confederate History Month Mr. Freddy Jones represented the Sons of the Confederate Veterans organization and stated that he had been a member for twenty years, and had accepted the Town’s proclamation almost every year. He thanked Council and shared that unfortunately, Hopewell United Methodist Church would no longer allow the Confederate flags on the graves next to 881 Senoia Road. We have also placed American flags on the Confederate gravesites and they have taken those up as well. Mr. Jones shared that the Minister and several other members were of the Cancel Culture movement. He added that his organization would continue to honor the veterans in other ways. He invited everyone to attend the Confederate Memorial Day Celebration on April 26th at 6:30 pm, located at the gazebo in the Fayetteville square. Public Hearing 2. Consideration for a retail alcohol license for consumption for Darunee Suwannakoon with DP&G, located at 52-54 Carriage Oaks Drive. Dee Baker, Town Clerk Ms. Baker stated that the public hearing was to consider an alcohol license application from DP&G Group d/b/a Modern Thai restaurant. She added that the legal staff had reviewed the application, signs had been posted and the legal ad was placed. If approved, Ms. Suwannakoon would be issued the Tyrone license in order to apply for the State license. Once the State license was issued, she could commence selling beer and wine for consumption. Mayor Pro Tem opened the public hearing for anyone that wished to speak in favor of the item. No one spoke. Council Member Campbell made a motion to approve the Alcohol License for the consumption of beer and wine located at 52-54 Carriage Oaks Drive. Council Member Hill seconded the motion. Council Meeting – Social Distancing/YouTube Live April 1, 2021 Page 2 of 3 Staff Comments Ms. Spradlin thanked Ms. Bridget Smith for organizing the Coweta County tornado relief effort. She added that there was a great outpouring of support. She thanked Ms. Smith and Tyrone’s staff for their assistance. Mr. Perkins elaborated and stated that the well-organized event was planned by Ms. Smith and staff. He thanked staff and Tyrone’s citizens for their support. A 24-foot trailer was filled with food, water, clothes and toiletries and delivered. The timing was perfect and Coweta County was very appreciative. Mr. Perkins also reminded everyone that offices would be closed for Good Friday. Council Comments Council Member Hill welcomed her parents who were in the audience visiting from Florida. Adjournment Council Member Hill made a motion to adjourn. Council Member Howard seconded the motion. Motion was approved 4-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:12 pm.
