3. Approval of Minutes
Ruthann made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Diane. Unanimously approved.

5. School/ Police/ Fire Reports EN T
UPSD: Fentanyl Town Talk happened – wishing there were more people there. Looking to have an
assembly.
Did a walk through with WPFR to identify areas where vegetation and trees could be trimmed back. Also –
identified potential issues with the portable student buildings. Had some follow up evacuation meetings to
help address the portable issues. UPSD is implementing an emergency management team. Working on an

evacuation plan with kids with sensory issues. Also working on triage kits. Additionally, identifying CPR and
first aid trained staff.
Winter weather: Testing communication systems during the storms to notify residents about school. It is
working well.
In the past 2 weeks there were two near pedestrian collisions while the attendant was in the crosswalk
(Grandview). UPSD is looking for increased lighting in school zones and/or school zone cameras.
UN WPFR: December was quiet in UP. Of the 53 fire alarms that went off only 9 were in UP.
Of the 6 burn complaints – UP had 1. YTD there were 158 burn complaints and 667 fire alarms – spread
across the area that WPFR serves.
OF Cold weather reports: Sunday there were 13 calls in UP for burst pipes. There are over 40 calls for burst
pipes in UP YTD.
Back in classrooms doing presentations about fire safety.

Teaching in the culinary class at the high school – how to address kitchen fires.
UPPD: Pretty quiet since the last meeting.

December 5th – Holiday Green Firs event was a success.

Fairly quite CFS so far, seen a bit of a violent crime uptick during the holiday season. Overall call volume
and overtime has been on the quiet side for the past month.
The announcement for COO opened and will be closing the end of the month.
Chief met with Jeff Chamberlain, UPSD superintendent, to talk about a SRO/ SLO proposal/ agreement in

the coming year.

New co-Chair election & vote – Amy Booth is retiring

Amy is stepping down as chair. Emily Calhoun has stepped up and offered to take on co-Chairing with Kim
ME
Nordby.
Pete made a motion and Ruthann seconded. Emily Calhoun was unanimously selected as the new PSAC
Chair.

7. Traffic safety Flash vote discussion
(2) Pedestrian safety: streets with no sidewalks, trouble crossing the street. Walking to school? Street
lighting and pedestrians.
(3) Locations: Are there certain streets/ intersections that we should be focused on? Should we pre-

identify intersections/ streets in the survey? Talk with engineers about upcoming projects – how that might
feed into the study?
(1) Cameras: What is the general feedback on speed, school and/or red-light cameras? Do you want
cameras and if so where?

(4) Non camera/ passive traffic calming measures: Questions about other traffic engineering methods to
calm speeds? (Narrowing of road, roundabouts, etc)
Focus group discussion: share data/ information to frame the focus group discussions.
Regular meeting on the 15th to discuss the questions for the focus group. Looking at hosting those
discussions on the February 29th

8. Other business
Is there interest in a UPPD tour? YES! Jen will reach out with dates and times.
OF PW: workplan discussion – suggested that PSAC provide information/ follow up to get information out about
what the levy monies are being used for (COO & patrol officers).
