With a quorum present, Mayor Marlin called the public hearing to order at 7:22 p.m.
following a special City Council meeting.
Mayor Marlin opened the hearing and stated the purpose of the hearing, which was to
receive public input on a proposed annexation agreement between the City of Urbana, the
Judy Heimburger Trust, and Trinities Development LLC. The proposed annexation is for a
tract of land consisting of approximately 8.38 acres and generally located east of North Oak
Street, west of Cardinal Court, and north of North Sixth Street, currently owned by the Judy
Heimburger Trust. The tract does not have a street address but has a permanent index
number of 30-21-06-326-015. Notice of this public hearing was published on August 8, 2018.
Mayor Marlin opened the public hearing.
II. PUBLIC INPUT
Rev. Dr. Evelyn Underwood stated that she was unclear about the address of the parcel as
she found an address listed online which does not correspond to the geographic location
given. Mayor Marlin noted that this hearing would be continued providing time to clarify
this.
Corion Salahuddin stated that he recently moved into the area 2 weeks ago. He asked if this
this is public housing or campus housing. He expressed concern about what is going to be
built there as this is a very enclosed neighborhood. Concerned about trouble coming into the
neighborhood as well as traffic going through the neighborhood which could make the
neighborhood more dangerous. City Council Member Jakobsson noted that the Plan
Commission will be considering this case on Sept 6. CM Wu asked if zoning was his concern
to which CD Director Schneider indicated that zoning will be discussed at the Plan
Commission Sept. 6. Mr. Salahuddin was encouraged to attend.
There being no further comments or questions, Mayor Marlin declared the meeting
continued to September 10, 2018.
