Call To Order and Roll Call There being a quorum, Mayor Prussing called the special meeting of the Urbana City Council to order at 7:02 p.m. II. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting 1. November 24, 2014 Alderman Roberts made a motion to approve the November 24, 2014 minutes. Alderwoman Marlin seconded. Motion carried by voice vote. III. Petitions and Communications Urbana City Counsel (Special Meeting) Minutes: December 8, 2014 Page Two There were none. IV. New Business 1. Resolution No. 2014-12-070R: A Resolution Authorizing City Support for the Urbana-Champaign Community Bid Package to Attract the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament to State Farm Center Alderman Brown made a motion to approve Resolution No. 2014-12-070R. Alderwoman Marlin seconded. Alderman Roberts opened discussion in support of Urbana’s participation. Alderman Brown provided some of history of the Tournament, and some of the accomplishments of individuals that participated in the 1941 IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament. Alderwoman Marlin and Alderman Jakobsson both voiced their support. Alderwoman Ammons expressed her support for the appropriation to the IHSA, and gave information on the loss this past October of legendary Coach Wayne McClain, who won 4 ISHA Basketball State Championships consecutively. Alderwoman Ammons briefly discussed the Wayne McClain Pipeline Foundation, which provides scholarship opportunities for participants of the Pipeline programs, leadership training, mentoring, tutorial services and recreational activities including sports fitness/health and wellness, training young men for such Tournaments. After discussion, the motion was carried by roll call. Votes were as follows: Carol Ammons – Aye Michael P. Madigan - Aye Bill Brown – Aye Diane Marlin – Aye Eric Jakobsson – Aye Dennis Roberts – Aye Disposition: Resolution No. 2014-12-070R was approved by roll call vote (6 – ayes; 0 – Nays). VI.
