URBANA CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES DATE: Monday, October 21, 2019 TIME: 6:30 P.M. PLACE: Urbana City Council Chambers, 400 S. Vine St, Urbana, IL 61801 The City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois, met in Special Session Monday October 21, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building. ELECTED OFFICIALS PHYSICALLY PRESENT: City Council Members (CM) Maryalice Wu (Ward 1), Eric Jakobsson (Ward 2), Shirese Hursey (Ward 3), Bill Brown (Ward 4), Dennis Roberts (Ward 5), Jared Miller (Ward 7), Diane Wolfe Marlin (Mayor), Charles A. Smyth (City Clerk) ELECTED OFFICIALS PRESENT VIA TELECONFERENCE: ELECTED OFFICIALS ABSENT: Dean Hazen (Ward 6) STAFF PRESENT: Carol Mitten, James Simon, Todd Rent OTHERS PRESENT: none I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL There being a quorum present, Mayor Marlin called the meeting of the Urbana City Council to order at 6:32 p.m. II. PUBLIC INPUT None III. CLOSED SESSION: To discuss the appointment, employment or performance of specific employees, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). CM Miller moved to go into closed session for the purpose of discussing appointment, employment or performance of specific employees, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). The motion was seconded by CM Roberts and passed by roll call vote (7-0): Brown – Aye; Hursey – Aye; Jakobsson – Aye; Miller – Aye; Roberts – Aye; Wu – Aye; Marlin – Aye. The council members, mayor and staff moved to the second floor Executive Conference room at 6:33 pm. Council members, mayor, and staff return to council chambers at 7:04 pm. CM Miller moved to return to open session, seconded by CM Brown, and passed by unanimous voice vote. IV. ADJOURNMENT With no further business to come before the council, Mayor Marlin adjourned the meeting at 7:06 p.m. Charles A.
