Commissioners Present: Chairperson Marya Ryan, Vice Chair Stephen Wald, Bart Bartels,
Morgan Johnston, Todd Rusk, Andrew Stumpf
Commissioners Absent: Pam Voitik
Staff Present: Scott Tess, Kate Brickman
Call to Order, Roll Call, and Declaration of Quorum
The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. Kate Brickman called the roll and a quorum was
present.
Changes to the Agenda
There were no changes to the agenda.
Approval of Minutes
Motion was made by Ms. Johnston, second by Mr. Stumpf, to approve the minutes from the
February 2, 2016 meeting. The chairing of the meeting by Mr. Wald was noted and all were in
agreement to approve the minutes as amended. Motion carried.
Public Input
There was no public input.
Communications
Staff Report
Scott Tess gave the monthly Staff Report which included progress on the Climate Action Plan
(CAP) Phase 2, highlighting the acceptance of a new multi-city electrical aggregation bid,
Illinois Grow Solar opportunities, the local onsite renewable energy market, and an update on the
Georgetown University Energy Prize competition.
Related to the Sustainable Water Management Plan, Tess announced the upcoming rain barrel
and compost bin truck sale tentatively scheduled for May 14.
Additionally, various U-Cycle events were summarized, including the Countywide Residential
Electronics Collection on Saturday, May 26.
The Report stated April 5, 2016 as the next meeting date.
Continuing Business
There was no continuing business.
New Business
Annual Report Draft
Scott Tess provided an overview of updated draft Annual Report for the City of Urbana
Environmental Sustainability Division. Tess indicated that the report was populated with real
data providing a snapshot of the metrics were of most importance. Commission members
discussed the draft with Tess and praised his efforts.
Announcements
Climate Change and Its Impact: Risks and Inequalities
Andrew Stumpf announced the Climate Change and Its Impact: Risks and Inequalities workshop
being held at the I-Hotel in Champaign on March 10 and 11. The workshop features
presentations from diverse national and professional backgrounds and seeks to open a dialogue
and help understand the ways that climate change is affecting society. More information on the

Morgan Johnston announced that the annual Boneyard Creek Community Day will be held on
April 23 at Scott Park in Champaign.

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
