Clark, Town Clerk CUNNINGHAM TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MARCH 4, 2013 The Cunningham Township Board met in regular session Monday, March 4, 2013 in the Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building, 400 S. Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois. ELECTED OFFICIALS PHYSICALLY PRESENT: Chair: Laurel Lunt Prussing, Chair Trustees: Brandon Bowersox-Johnson Eric Jakobsson Robert E. Lewis Diane W. Clark Supervisor: Carol Elliott Assessor: Daniel Stebbins ELECTED OFFICIALS PRESENT VIA TELECONFERENCE: None ELECTED OFFICIALS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Fred Grosser; Members of the Media A. ROLL CALL Chair Prussing called the meeting of the Cunningham Township Board to order at 7:01 p.m. B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING February 4, 2013 – Trustee Lewis made a motion to approve the minutes of meeting held February 4, 2013. Trustee Roberts seconded. C. COMMITTEE TO VERIFY BILLS The following items were presented in omnibus fashion: 1. Town Fund 2. General Assistance Fund Supervisor Elliott presented the staff report. Trustee Roberts made a motion to approve the Town Fund in the amount of 43,616.74 and the General Assistance Fund in the amount of $62,668.18. Trustee Marlin seconded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS Supervisor Elliott informed the Board that she would have a draft tentative budget to present at the next meeting. She also informed them that next year clients will be able to start enrolling in Obamacare for Medicaid. E. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS There were none. F. UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was none. G. NEW BUSINESS 1. Discussion of Consolidated Social Service Funding Allocations Supervisor Elliott informed the Board that she had this item placed on the agenda to follow-up on discussion by the City Council last week. She distributed a memo to the City Council requesting that they take into consideration the needs of General Assistance clients when allocating funds to be paid from the Township Budget. Supervisor Elliott clarified how the General Assistance Fund works, explaining that when someone is approved for General Assistance and able to work they are assigned to a work site. Currently, the Township is low on work sites and high on clients. Supervisor Elliott concluded by suggesting that in the future, when requesting for proposals, pay an agency to see clients to assess them on job readiness, and mental health and crisis issues some of them may be facing, and then provide counseling or referrals. Trustee Smyth suggested providing this information to incoming (newly elected) City Council members. This item did not warrant Board action. H.
