AGENDA I. Call to order and roll call II. Public input III. Adjournment Charles A. Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois 61801, by telephone at 217-384-2466. TOWN OF CUNNINGHAM Office of the Supervisor The City of Urbana and Cunningham Township are asking for increases of 20.3% and 23.1% respectively in the property tax levy based on the possibility that hospital properties could be considered taxable for the 2018 tax levy. The City intends to reduce the tax levy so that the current tax rates remain in place. For the owner of a $150,000 owner-occupied home, that would mean a City property tax bill of $596, the same as in 2017, assuming the value of the property does not change. If hospital properties are considered taxable and properties that are currently exempt are added to the tax rolls, the City intends to reduce their tax rates to $1.3152. At this lower rate, the City tax bill for the owner of the same house would be reduced to $579, again assuming the property value does not change. Urbana homeowners should not see any increase in their property tax bill for City taxes, unless the assessment on their property has increased. Cunningham Township will limit its tax extension to that which is allowable under tax caps. Please note that the City share of the total property tax bill is approximately 13% and the Township’s share is about 2%. Diane Wolfe Marlin, Mayor of Urbana and Danielle Chynoweth, Cunningham Township Supervisor Persons with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations by contacting the City of Urbana Americans with Disabilities Coordinator in person or in writing at 400 S. Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois 61801, by telephone at 217-384-2466.
