Main St. Uvalde, TX 78801 The Regular Historic Preservation Board Meeting of the City of Uvalde was called to order on Thursday August 24, 2023, at 5:30PM, in the City Hall, Council Chambers, with the following members present: BOARD Nancy Bennett-Chair MEMBERS Olga Charles PRESENT: David Mancha Ben Elliott-Alternate BOARD Debbie Esser MEMBERS Dianne Trevino ABSENT: Rosy Rodriguez Tina Quintanilla-Alternate STAFF Susan Anderson-Director of Planning and Development PRESENT: Sorayda A. Sanchez-City Secretary Gloria Resma-Main Street Manager 1 CALL MEETING TO ORDER 2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2A. Consider approving the minutes of the April 27, 2023 Historic Preservation Board meeting. Motion to approve item 2A made by board member Ben Elliott. Motion seconded by board member Olga Charles. Motion carried 4-0. 3 NEW BUSINESS 3A. Consider and act on a request for a Facade Grant for 118 S. East St., Once Upon a Time. Susan Anderson, Director of Planning and Development stated that this facade grant application will also serve as a certificate of appropriateness. The business owner is requesting a facade grant for signage. There were 2 quotes provided, one was for a metal sign with vinyl letters and the second was for the awning. The awning option was more expensive, the property owner would like to go with the less expensive option. The total requested amount is $1,117.93. Consider and act on a request for Facade Grant for 126 W. Nopal St., Family Practice Center of Uvalde. Susan Anderson, Director of Planning and Development stated that this facade grant application will also serve as a certificate of appropriateness. The business owner is requesting a facade grant for window repair. The property owner plans on having the wood and glass work repaired and remodeled. The total requested amount is $5,797.97. Motion to approve item 3B made by Board Member Olga Charles. Motion seconded by Board Member David Mancha. Motion carried 4-0. 3C. Consider and act on a request for a Facade Grant for 141 N. Camp St., Jody Griffin, State Farm Insurance. Susan Anderson, Director of Planning and Development stated that this facade grant application will also serve as a certificate of appropriateness. The business owner is requesting a facade grant for building repair. The property owner plans to tear off the siding and brick. He will have metal and trim, and rock work, and painting done to the building. The total requested amount is $7,854.78. Motion to approve item 3C made by Board Member Olga Charles.
