Approved Minutes Council Special Session June 5, 2024 Wednesday 12:00 p.m. The special session of the City Council, City of Vermillion, South Dakota was held on Wednesday, June 5, 2025 at 12:20 p.m. at the City Hall Jack Powell Conference Room. 1. Roll Call Present: Holland, Humphrey, Jennewein, Price, Mayor Cole Absent: Ward, Murra, Letellier, Hellewege (arrived 12:33p.m.) 2. Adoption of Agenda x-24 Council Member Price moved approval of the agenda with the adjusted date of June 4th for the election. Council Member Jennewein seconded the motion. Motion carried 5 to 0. Mayor Cole declared the motion adopted. 3. Visitors to be Heard - None 4. New Business A. Canvass of June 4, 2024 Election Results Katie Redden, Finance Officer, stated that the duties of the Canvassing Board are to open the returns from each precinct, which are found in the poll book, determine that the returns are genuine and not forged, tabulate the returns from the precincts and the certification of provisional ballot count, declare the results and make an abstract of the results that is to be signed. Katie stated that included in the packet is the detail results for each ward, recapitulation sheet for each ward, results from the Provisional Ballot Counting Board and an abstract of the results. Katie stated that the totals from the poll book can be compared to the precinct results and the precinct results can be traced to the abstract of results. The City Council Members examined the poll books along with election results for each ward. Discussion followed. The Council members signed the election results and Council Member Hellwege seconded the motion. Motion carried 5 to 0. Mayor Cole declared the motion adopted. 2 5. Adjourn x-24 Council Member Jennewein moved to adjourn the Council special session at 12:52 p.m. Council Member Price seconded the motion. Motion carried 6 to 0.
