CITY OF VERONA MINUTES COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING MAY 20, 2013 1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jon Hochkammer at 6:02 p.m. 2. Roll call: Jon Hochkammer, Luke Diaz, Elizabeth Doyle, Scott Manley, Heather Reekie, Dale Yurs. Absent (excused): Mac McGilvray, Brad Stiner. Also in attendance: Bill Burns, City Administrator; Adam Sayre, Director of Planning and Development. 3. Public Comments. None 4. Minutes of the November 19, 2012 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Motion by Manley, seconded by Yurs, to approve the minutes of the November 19, 2012 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Motion carried 6-0. 5. Presentation and Discussion of City’s Planning, Land Use Policies, and Future Growth Areas. Mr. Sayre presented information on the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance and Land Use Policies. He also provided an update on the North Neighborhood Plan and proposed well and septic development within the City. The City anticipates requesting an Urban Service Area amendment for the north neighborhood area later this year. The developer Tony Heinrichs has proposed residential development on the Brown property with private well and septic systems within the City. 6. Discussion of City Strengths, Challenges, and Goal Setting. Mr. Burns facilitated a discussion of the City’s strengths, challenges, and an initial discussion of City goals. The City is planning to hold another committee of the whole meeting on June 17 to discuss fiscal issues including the City’s financial management policy. 7. Discussion about Electronic Documents and Council Communications. Mr. Burns demonstrated the City’s Laserfiche electronic records system and discussed the potential of purchasing electronic devices for Council Members. These devices could be used to access City email accounts, meeting packets, and the Laserfiche system. 8. Adjourn.
