3. Approval of the 12/9/2013 Finance Committee Minutes: Motion by Doyle, seconded by
Manley, to approve the 12/9/2013 Finance Committee minutes. Motion carried 2-0.
4. Payment of Bills: Motion by Manley, seconded by Doyle, to approve the payment of bills
for the January check run in the amount of $944,568.73. Motion carried 2-0. Motion by
Manley, seconded by Doyle, to approve the payment of bills for the December check run in
the amount of $287,548.04. Motion carried 2-0.
5. Payment of Out-of-Office Checks: Motion by Manley, seconded by Doyle, to approve the
payment of out-of-office checks in the amount of $9,012,799.45. Motion carried 2-0.
6. Authorization to Rescind 2013 Taxes for the Property at 513 W. Verona Avenue: Mr. Burns
reported that as part of the conversion to new assessment software, the tax exempt status of
the property at 513 W. Verona Avenue (St. Vincent de Paul) was inadvertently removed. As
a result, a tax bill was generated in the amount of $31,864.02. This is considered a palpable
error as the property is exempt by law from taxation. The City has the ability to rescind the
taxes and to seek a chargeback to the other taxing jurisdictions for their share of the amount
of rescinded taxes. Motion by Doyle, seconded by Manley, to recommend that Common
Council rescind the 2013 property taxes for the property located at 513 W. Verona Avenue.
Motion carried 2-0.
7. Resolution R-14-003 Designating Public Depositories and Authorizing Financial Signatories
for the City of Verona, Dane County, Wisconsin: Mr. Burns explained that annually the
City Council approves the list of authorized financial institutions where the City may keep
funds. In addition, the City’s signatories are being updated to reflect a name change for the
City Clerk. Motion by Manley, seconded by Doyle to recommend that the Common
Council approve Resolution R-14-003 designating public depositories and authorizing
financial signatories. Motion carried 2-0.
8. Adjournment: Motion by Doyle, seconded by Manley, to adjourn the Finance Committee
Meeting at 6:50 p.m. Motion carried 2-0.
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Burns, City Administrator
