FINANCE COMMITTEE
OCTOBER 20, 2014
VERONA CITY HALL
1. The meeting was called to order by Elizabeth Doyle at 4:00 p.m.
2 Roll Call: William “Mac” McGilvray (4:20 p.m.), Elizabeth Doyle, Jack Linder. Also
present: Jon Hochkammer, Mayor; Brad Stiner; Alderperson; Heather Reekie, Alderperson;
Bill Burns, City Administrator; Cindy Engelke, Finance Director.
3. Discussion and Possible Action re: 2015 City Budget
TIF Districts – Bill Burns presented the recommended Tax Increment Financing District
#4, #6, and #7 budgets.
Debt Service Budget – Cindy Engelke presented the recommended Debt Service budget.
2015 Budget Recommendations – Bill Burns and Cindy Engelke presented the 2015
budget recommendations and information on General Fund Revenues, Expenditures, and a
summary of the City’s overall tax levy. The 2015 Recommended Budget includes an
estimated City assessed mill rate of $6.7074 per $1,000, which would be a decrease of 1.0%.
Several recommended budget adjustments were discussed resulting in a $435,276 decrease
in the property tax levy compared to the requested budget.
The Finance Committee will be meeting again on Monday, October 27 to discuss potential
additional adjustments to the 2015 recommended budget.
4. Adjournment: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to adjourn the Finance
Committee Meeting at 6:10 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
